Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Hi I Guess Second Rebuild in 14 years???? Why so?

Are you going for the Stock features or are you opting for some modifications.

Please Stick to MRF Nylogrip 3.00 * 18 on rear and 2.75 * 18 with grip in front it provides excellent Road grip and also suits in the factory norms.

Regards,
Ranjit

Gear pedal will be replaced. I need a good carb mech. My existing moron said the present one is too wornout to be repaired. New one cost 3 k but its not jap. To tell you the scale of the problem. 200 bucks worth of petrol over in a day. The overflow valve is leaking like crazy. Help.

Since you mentioned the problem with regards to carb. Let me share my thoughts.

New MICARB RX100 carb which is available at YASS costs around 2300-2500/- if I'm not wrong.

There is a needle value assembly inside the carb might have got worn out. It costs around 90-100buck if I'm correct. There is a needle value will look like a sharpened pencil miniature. Check if the end circumference got any groove or step like mark, if yes, then that's the culprit. What happens when the petrol keep flowing is, the needle value acts like a stopper, however, if it has some grooves, might not work right resulting in overflow from the carb bowl sides. Apart from that you should also check for any signs of damage, crack, deformation on the carb float bowl perimeter that could contribute to the leakage. While you change the needle valve, also change the packing/gasket. There could be other factors as well but for now try checking above. Faced a similar issue with my RX and I learned these in a hard way.

Also a suggestion, you get most of the carb parts with YASS or the dealers atleast I know in KL, can't you rebuild it completely?

Slide, Spring, Needle value assembly, Nozzle Main (Emulsion tube/Atomizer), Jets, packing, carb float, air screws, float bowl etc.

this is what even my mech said but he said the carb is too wornout for this, there are no physical damage to the carb, can someone access the internals without opening it?

Maharastra there are tons of RX especially my hometone nashik has rich biking culture. Here there are still lots of RX & RD. So yamaha spares are available easily but i doubt the spares available with local dealers in yamaha packing are 11 out of 12 fake. Vendor cosmetic spares are available steadily. Supply is there as demand it
