Make: Yamaha RX 135 4 Speed
Original year of purchase: 2004
Date of acquisition : 2006

Love 2 stroke bikes to the core. Owned a Suzuki Shogun from 1995 till 2004 and sold it because of the unavailability of parts. Then got this beauty.
Sold it in 2008 after an accident.

I agree. Own a 1990 RTZ and only the RX-100 and RD350 could make me eat dust...

Found the maroon and red colour the most attractive on the RX-100's

What about the shogun and the 135s ? KB RTZ is not a fast bike, its just a comfortable bike IMHO. But nevertheless to each his own.

Yup @Pramodkumar, i missed those since i never raced with the shogun or RX-135. Had a friend in college at Jamalpur who had a 1991 RX-100. Occasionally had sudden throttle opening compulsions and ended up following him. As for racing an RD, it never occurred... I know the limits of an RTZ thank you!

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Hey guys,
I have a '96 model RXG. This bike belongs to my uncle, who purchased it from the initial owner in '99. It has been with me since 2007.
Color - Black
ODO - it stopped working at around 66,000 kms. My guess is that it would have done close to 80,000 kms till now.
Mods - None.

Recently I had to change the cylinder block and piston (my cousin had the bike for around 6 months and the oil pump stopped working during this period). Luckily my mechanic found a second hand block which was in pretty good condition.

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

This is not a post to present my bike but to share a unique story about a dealer from bangalore who auctioned off seven units of RX100 bikes. All of these bikes were not used and got registered in this year as registration for 2 stroke vehicles had stopped.

Each of the bikes went for a minimum of 1.5 lakhs with the highest bid being 1.65 lakhs. This is a direct example of "Old is gold". The dealer must have been really happy at the end of the day. Not sure how he managed to keep them in new condition all these years!

A small correction here. Those were RX135 bikes and not RX100.

To me it's a Win-Win deal for both side.
In today's scenario a brand new cylinder kit for RX costs in the upwards of 10k and restoring an RX to factory spec costs more than 60k and additional RTO fee for fitness certification. Getting a brand new RX for 1.5L will keep the owner trouble free for next 15 years.

Sure but the RTO will count its manufacturing date for fitness I think. In any case if the owner is paying 1.5L, an additional 3/4k for passing shouldn't be a concern for him.

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Too bad they did not post a picture of the seven bikes which the dealer was holding onto. My 2005 RX135 was from the very last batch (manufactured in March 2005, and bought in August 2005) and it costed me approximately 49,000/- on the road back then.

Tripling your money in ten years is not at all bad from a financial perspective.

I am wondering what other unused two strokes people are holding onto! Let us hope there are more. The way the 2 strokes are losing their originality in the name of restoration, I hope there are at least a few 'reference' bikes left for future restorers to base their work on.

How true VIJU. I wish there are some hidden RD350 HT in someone's closet which can come out now and we get to see their real beauty and its power
