Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Best in town or say best in India, few friends are behind me if I even plan to sell off this setup. Bike revs past 12K RPM and power band start from 6000 RPM which goes all the way till 12000, first three gears it does power wheelie. Top speed not tested but it has shown 140+ on speed gun with some more power in reserve.
Hope few jokers who jumped in last year for CDi stuff wont jump in once again.

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Hi All,

My RX135 is in hibernation for the last 15 months as I was out of India. It is lying unused but covered and parked properly. Can the gurus please enlighten me on what steps/checks I need to do to bring back my bike to running condition?

Thanks in advance!

Simple -
Change the gear box oil,
clean the carb,
clean the petrol tank as not sure what might have gone in and also for the rust.
Check tyres
Lube the cable/Replace them.
Then give her a nice bubble bath.

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Guys need your help in resolving an issue with my RX135 4 speed.
The bike was not ridden much over the last few years, had many cosmetic issues with it, but the engine and gearbox were pretty ok. Last week the front foot rest broke off, guess the leaking oils and dust and rust caused it. We managed to procure a replacement at the Yamaha store in Cochin. Also did some minor repairing including fitment of new mirrors.

My dad rode the bike back from the service center. The next day when he started it, the bike went into full rev. The accelerator was at the minimum position and the fuel needle was kept at normal idling setup. Also the accelerator cable was not stuck at the maximum position. However, the bike went into full revv and continued to revv. Turning off the ignition key also did not stop the bike. Dad closed the fuel valve and the bike stopped when the fuel supply was cut.

We had a local mechanic check the bike, he did not find any reason for the full revving. We took the bike to the Yamaha service center and they say the crank shaft is damaged and needs replacement. Would cost us not less than 7K. There were plans to sell the bike and buy a Wego for dad and a Duke 200 for me. The Wego plans are now scrapped as dad says its an omen and we should not sell the bike.

No my question is - Why did the bike revv so hard with zero acceleration?
Why did the bike not stop even after switching off the ignition?
Any good place in Cochin where we can get the bike repaired well?

Thanks in advance.

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

The bike might be having an airleak which is causing high rev or it would be the slide that is getting struck...the RX cable is of two parts where there is a joint under the tank...this point it would have got struck...you need a good mech locally to check and do it ...i dont think becoz of the crankshaft the bike idles high take it to a competent mech....even a local mech who knows his business can get it set up properly
