Sid any further details on what each variant would consist of? Had heard of Titanium earlier, but never of the style & trend. Are these completely new variants?

Thats quite a shift from the usual Ford E, Z and S variants but I like the way the variants are named. They stand out amongs others. Would they be embossed on the car at the usual places?

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Does anybody have details on the Stock Audio system provided with the car as in:
- How many Pre-outs does the HU have?
- Any idea who is manufacturing the HU ?
- What is the size of the speakers
- Where is the front Tweeters located. I did not see it in the dash.. Is it in the door handle ?
- Does the steering remote control have dedicated buttons for phone ?

Talked to the sales executive at Bhagat Ford Dehradun who has just returned from training at Chandigarh. It seems Titanium+ has been dropped by the company for the moment, so we'll be getting just three variants. No leather seats for now... :(

Re: Ford Fiesta : Test Drive & Review

Got a call from Ford India which was an invite to attend the premier of the new Ford Fiesta on the 10th July. I was asked for the preferred dealer. The premier will begin at around 12 noon at most Ford dealers.

FMC seems to be biased towards the blue colour.
A 2 day training program was organised for sales executives of Ford dealerships at Hotel Aroma, Chandigarh... those 2 blue Fiestas were meant for that

Corporate launch @ Aamby Valley

The Ford Motor Company is conducting the pre-launch of the new Fiesta at Aamby Valley as I speak....

Got a chance to sit in the Petrol version (could not get a self driven test drive yet).
* Exterior design - looks gorgeous , but somehow I am still enamoured with the Fluidic Verna styling. No glaring panel gaps were found.
* Music system - Single CD player with bluetooth,& Voice recognition system (although the voice recognition missed working at the first attempt).
* Rear seat leg room seemed adequate when the front seat wasnt pushed all the way to the back.
* Great handling on the curves & supreme stability
* The Diesel top end version is > 10 Lacs OTR in Mumbai, Petrol version will be cheaper than Verna Fluidic.
* Found the layout of the Main dashboard controls a little congested (too many buttons for my comfort/ ease of use)
* No Automatic version yet (neither in Petrol, nor Deisel)
* Offical launch is on Sunday

Also no rear passenger Airbags even in the Titanium version.

cheers
Sid

Re: Corporate launch @ Aamby Valley

Two impressive features of all-new Ford Fiesta: Pull drift compensation power steering, superior cabin noise reduction | Driving Ford

Quote:
With pull-drift compensation, the steering system changes the steering response and adjusts it as per the road conditions like crowning on roads, strong wind or other irregularities to prevent pulling or drifting of the car. This technology works with the electric system which does not extract power directly from engine; rather it uses car battery and power steering motor to operate, thus improving fuel efficiency of the engine. In this system, sensors constantly measure steering wheel torque applied by the driver to maintain the car’s path. Continuous adjustments are made as the system resets to adapt to changing road conditions or maneuvers, such as the vehicle turning a corner. When the system detects a pulling or drifting condition, such as a crowned road surface, it provides torque assistance for steering the car more easily for the driver. For drivers, this assistance is seamless and imperceptible; it is like an invisible helping hand to control the steering more accurately.

The steering response of the Fiesta is pretty accurate and steering feels steady even at speeds as high as 140 KMPH on a highway. The force required to turn the steering has been optimized in such a way that it doesn’t feel too light or too heavy which instills a lot of confidence and control while driving at higher speeds. Refer to the graphic below of Steering Wheel Angle vs Lateral Acceleration of the car to understand why the steering response of Fiesta is so agile and precise.
Quote:
As per our drive experience of this car in city as well as highway for about 170 Km during the Technical Deep Dive (facilitated by Ford India in Bangalore recently), the steering system is one of the most impressive features of Fiesta 2011 which makes it distinct from the competitors in its segment.

I got a call from the dealer Cauvery Ford. He did not mention any time though but said the car will be present in the showroom. And pricing will not be revealed he said.

This is sad. Below 10 Lacs would have been a killer pricing.
