Congrats Werfish !! Looks like you opted for the exhaust tip as an accessory?! How much does that cost?

btw... Can any of the new owners who have had time to read the Manual ( in between of drooling at their new beauties ) tell me what the Manual says abt the Running-in period.

I picked up the exhaust tip and the steering cover both together came to about 1200
Run in for diesel is 1500 Kms not to exceed 2500 RPM and for Petrol 1000 Kms do not exceed 130 KMPH in the highest gear.

1500 km run in sounds excessive especially given the turbo lag below 2200 RPM on the 110. I though modern CRDI engines would not need to be babied like this.

Going to be a tough first 1500 km to drive! Before the turbo zone, no response and just as you hit the turbo you need to slow down!

Here's an interesting titbit -

• The Indian 110 dCi Duster's K9K THP engine (presumably K9K 896 sub-variant) appears to be in a different (lower?) state of tune.
• I have attached a PDF file of the French Duster's spec sheet - with the relevant portion boxed in Red.
• Notice that the French Duster's Euro-V engine with particulate filter actually develops 240 Nm of torque at a far lower 1750 RPM, compared to our Duster's engine which develops 248 Nm at 2250 RPM.
• Peak power remains almost the same at 4000 RPM, compared to 3900 RPM for the Indian variant.
• It would therefore be reasonable to presume that the turbo-lag issue would have been removed entirely in the French version of the engine.
• Step-motherly treatment or wot??

Renault manufactures the vehicle Duster in India, export it to Europe with standard safety features [read airbags and ABS ] and sells it at lower price than what they sell in India for non safety versions [airbags/ABS]. Definitely a step motherly treatment.

We give them land at low cost, uninterrupted power supply and certain tax concession and this is what we get in return. I am not sure if i am going off topic - Since this thread belongs to Duster review including price i thought this will fit in this thread.

Its step motherly treatment allright. There are multiple versions of the 1.5 dCi and the newer one apart from DPF also has the option for ESP @300 pounds extra in most countries its sold.

The reason they are not offering it here is there is no ESP for the version here, and given the stability tests on youtube ESP is clearly necessary. The Fluence probably has this version.

I think its more to do with the various taxes, exise at state and center level which makes car expensive. To make thinks affordable manufactures then remove essential/non essential accessories to keep the car cost as per the target segment.

Courtesy the spec sheet shared by srgntpepper earlier, I have prepared the RPM Vs Speed for the 85ps & 110ps versions of the Duster, if both are running on the highest gear. The table clearly shows that having an extra cog makes the higher powered version cruise at 100 kmph, when the engine is just under 2300 RPM (2260 RPM to be precise), whereas for the 85ps version you have to rev the engine just under 2542 RPM to get to the triple digit speeds. The 110Dci is no doubt a good cruiser for highways
