As usual, top class fabulous service from Shawar Nissan. Regular check up, topping up fluids and a thorough wash .
I agree , so far the experience has been good. I had parked the car for a week when i started it the wheel didn budge and it released with a clang. The brakes had jammed, had called roadside assistance and they came promptly . Bill came to 25k got the vehicle back in 2 days.advice to all owners do not put handbrake if left for long holds true for duster too

Hi terra85,

You had parked the car for a week with the handbrake engaged and it led to such a problem? Was it on an incline?

I got to know that the hand brake can be partially engaged instead of pulling it up fully when first/reverse gear is also engaged when the car is parked. Doing this will not put as much pressure on the brake pads.

I have been following the above for a long time.

But I never realized that brakes can get jammed when the hand brake is engaged for a week or so !.

It was in my parking on a flat surface, mistake was i had engaged it fully , the service centre guys said it is a known issue and not to engage fully for a long time unless on a incline. So now I engage handbrake only when necessary and only leave it in gear in my parking.

Would you be able to share any source for this? This is interesting and if true, worth following leading to lesser wear and tear on the car.

I got this tip from my brother, another car enthusiast and a BHPian (though not a very active member) .

Logically and technically thinking, seemed to make sense to me and hence started practising it.

Any issue we bring up , SA guys says it a known issue and give workarounds. Are they doing anything to fix the issue,NOP.

This is exactly the reason why Nissan is lagging.

True that, another thing is with so few service centers, they can do what they want as there is no where else we can go as such

Re: Nissan Terrano : Official Review

I got a message that Shahwar Nissan is no longer authorized service centre. I think only 2 left apple and Surya in Bangalore. Which is better to go among the two left?

Surya Nissan, Marathalli are very good from my experience.

Have no idea about Apple Nissan. I think they are also closed for now from Google results.

Re: Nissan Terrano : Official Review

Nissan authorized centers seem to be dropping like ripe fruit.

In Pune, I purchased mine from Shivalik Nissan (Oxford Nissan existed that time, but he didn't have the red color I wanted)

Then Oxford shut down.

Then Shivalik shut down.

In the place where Oxford used to be, Shiv Nissan came up (they claimed they were the old Shivalik)

Now Shivalik has shut down and only Landmark Nissan is left as the sole centre.

I really love my Terrano and feel it's absolutely the best in it's class (reliability/ride comfort/looks)
Shame to see it all go down the drain.

I hear you brother. Had the same issue;
- Bought it from Kamla Nissan - Shutdown
- Royce Nissan - Shutdown
- Ritu Nissan - Unable to contact them/perhaps shutdown
The only authorized service center for me is about 60 kms away.

Re: Nissan Terrano : Official Review

I guess the only way is for Renault center to pitch in, underneath the cars are similar. Should make sense.

Re: Nissan Terrano : Official Review

Folks,
Bumping this thread. As i just bought a NISSAN TERRANO XL DCI Plus in Bangalore. It's done 50k on the odometer and is a July 2015 model.

Owner has changed all the 4 tyres and it has Yoko's .
I wanted to get a general checkup and service done for the car wanted to check which is a good mechanic to go to. I know there are not too many Nissan authorised service centres left. Previous owner had taken AMC for 2 years and was getting the vehicle serviced at Bosch Electronic city.
He has been using Synthetic oil and said that the service interval is once an year or 10000 km.

Couple of issues that need to be fixed.

The headlight adjust switch is broken. Need to get that changed.
Was wanting to put an armrest, would that help.
Also does the car stereo come with a remote as i did not get any.
It does have a CD player. USB and other options.

Any inputs or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi,

Congrats on your purchase and hope you have done the general checkup now.

I also bought a 2014 Terrano XE with 76k odo. The car was in very mint condition and it was sweet deal with 4 new tyres .

I'm also having lots of queries and plans to do some upgrades to the car as mine is a XE variant.

The most interesting thing was this stereo which came with the car. It is a Nissan Original Audio system which was found in some old Sentra models in the US. It is a non-touch display with the reverse camera option. Very strange as to how this audio set got here

Re: Nissan Terrano : Official Review

Hi guys,

Can any let me know which is the AC relay in the pic? I was trying to figure out from the terrano owners manual. Where nothing is mentioned about the fuse/relays on engine bay.

Attaching pic:
