Yes, my reading so far is from the trip based mileage. TC petrol engines will be less fuel efficient than NA, but more powerful. Case in point VW TSi, Fiat TJet etc.

I will be happy if I get 12-13 in city conditions & 14-15 highway from this engine in regular City mode.

OK,

SO would that mean that the Race Dynamic tuning box for Manza would also work on the Zest? OR would they have to design a new dedicated to the Zest?

I think you should not take a chance since stock ECU settings on zest is surely different than manza hence plugging it will give any advantage or harm in long-term cannot be ascertained unless any expert first compare stock ECU settings of both car.

Having said that , plugging it wont be problem but outcome could be. lets wait I am also eagerly waiting to do it but very safely

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

As I just got the delivery, I'll wait for first service, in the least, before I get any after market mod for the engine.

Will also call and confirm with RD if its the same or they have something different

Spoke to my SA about the mileage question, he said I should expect 10-11 in city traffic until first service & then 13+ thereafter. Let's see how it goes.

Congratulations on the car. This is the car even some of my non-petrol head friends loved to drive. Regarding the mileage, I think your S.A is right. Please wait till the run in period is over and then check the mileage.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

Well, regarding the average....I'm getting under 14 in city and around 15-16 on highway (this was a short 70km trip one way). I own an XT diesel.

This is a little surprising to me as I expected it to be around 17-18 in the least. Maybe the figures might improve after then first setvice as it being a 90 PS engine where in my Dzire diesel returned anywhere between 18-19 in city conditions

My XMS diesel was showing 8 km/l and now it is around 11 km/l , I think it will take sometime to get expected figure.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

I'll guess the average calculation mechanism is a little stringent

My desire used to shoe under 30 whenever it had a reset. Also, my car was already driven for about 50km and showed around 8kmpl.

Today I checked and it was around 15+ with ac in city. So I guess it should improve. Try giving it a reset to get the correct average as per your driving style

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

Don't go purely by figures on the MID. For example, if you park the car on half tank on a slope, the DTE (Distance to Empty) figure will change drastically (before and after). A friend actually fired her driver, because the MID used to show low figures in the evening when he came to pick her up. I later showed her how it will make a difference based on where the car is parked.

On another note, a friend in office recently got the Zest. He has replaced the low beams (Halogens) with HID's and the car looks smashing. The projectors look perfect!

He said they were Philips HID's which came with the full kit so no wire cutting/replacements needed.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

I know the MID figures are for reference purpose only.

Regarding the HIDs, I plan to get a set of 6. Philips original for low beam and rest Chinese made for high beam and fog lamps.

Also a 155wrms ice is in line first!

What's your plan?
