Re: Renault Lodgy : Official Review

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest where I can get the Lodgy stepway body/bumper claddings along with original mats, I searched the ASS and they don't have it :(
Any suggestions for Delhi NCR, would be welcomed.

We have a 2015 manufactured Lodgy and it had its fair share of issues. Every year something conks off but we continued to keep it and have now completed a Lakh Kilometers last week.

Major bombs so far
1. High Pressure Fuel Pump.
2. Clutch Assembly.

Current issues
1. Rear AC works only on highest blower
2. Firewall insulation sheet chewed off by rats.
3. Door beading has shrunk; Can hear more wind noise now.
4. More vibration in idle felt. May be end of life for engine mounts.

Nothing beats the highway driving manners and ride quality I have to admit.

My brother also has a 2015 Lodgy and interestingly he also faced exactly same issues. Except that the insulation sheet went bad on its own and had to be replaced. Plus last year the turbo of his lodgy gave up, that was also replaced. In last 1.5-2 years he has spent close to 2lacs getting all this corrected. The vehicle always went for service at an authorised service centre.

Re: Renault Lodgy : Official Review

Vehicle completed 131k last week and it went for a regular service at WOS as recomended by fellow BHPians. To be honest, I was not expecting the routine service job to be that much expensive in WOS. As this was my first time in WOS so expectations were very high however at the time of delivery, few things went missing and I had to point it out to WOS to rectify those.

Total expense > 30k

Things changed/replaced
> brake plates and brake shoes
> engine oil, air filter, oil filter
> engine oil additive - cera tec
> rear wiper
> egr cleaning
> Electric odo rectify
> horn relay
> AC gas refilling

Following issue's cropped up
1. No coolant, I had to open the bonnet and show it the advisor to re fill
2. AC not cooling, 2 outlets blowing hot air and 2 are cooled
3. AC water seepage inside the cabin
4. ODO stopped working properly and not showing correct readings

Re: Renault Lodgy : Official Review

On a side note the infra in WOS is good. Customer handling skill of Anupam is out of the box, he gets in touch with you every now and then to know the status of the vehicle, that is appreciable.

That being said, there is always scope of improvement and last minute check or a final check up is pretty much the need, as in my case. Other than that this is a good place to get the service done even though it is a bit expensive as compared to other's.

Re: Renault Lodgy : Official Review

Hi,

Can anyone used performance filters on Lodgy 110 or may be Duster 110, if yes then can you share the experience, have searched in the forums however not able to find any relevant posts related to this.

If any one has used performance filters in Lodgy then do share the picture of placement of filter and pros and cons of using it.

Thanks

Ditto on those 2, but luckily not much of the others so far. My Lodgy is still going strong. Get it serviced by a local guy and so far he hasn't disappointed me.

From where and how was the insulation sheet replaced ? Does Renault ASC stock those ?

Re: Renault Lodgy : Official Review

Hi BHPians,
I have a 2017 Lodgy 110PS which has two air blower knobs - front (middle of the dashboard) and rear (2nd row ceiling) & one ac button (middle of the dashboard).
I'm facing a weird air conditioning problem.
When I put the AC button along with the front blower on, air does blow from the front vents but cooling does not start unless I put the rear blower on (i.e. both blowers are on).

Just FYI, if I put the AC button along with the real blower on but not the front blower, then AC LED does not turn on.
Is this normal? Does the cooling start only when we put both the blowers on?
Any advice will be great.

The front vents should be cooling even without turning on the rear blower. However, I have noticed that although cold air does blow front the front vents while the rear blower is switched OFF, the air coming from the front vents is slightly colder with the rear blowers switched ON. But the difference is marginal and you probably wouldn't notice unless you were actually looking for it.

About the rear blower: both the front and the rear vents use the same compressor AFAIK and unless the A/C button on the dash isn't switched on, the compressor isn't on. So at this point, even if you turn the rear blowers on, the air blowing through the rear OR front vents will not be cold unless and until you turn ON the A/C button (i.e the orange light on the button is lit). And to turn on the compressor the front blower must be switched on. So basically, to get cold air from the rear vents the front blower must first be switched on, and then the A/C button should be switched on

When the Lodgy came with a bang 10 years ago, it was hailed for better ride, mileage & wheelbase compared to Innova.

In hindsight what went wrong?

The exterior and interiors were outdated, it was the only reason for its failure in Indian market. There weren't much features too for the price tag of ₹15 lakhs in 2015.

Lots of factors played a role in quashing the Lodgy. First of all, the Innova had already attained the 'king-of-the-hill' status and its monopoly meant that it was the go-to choice for people shopping in the upper mass-market segment.

Moreover, the looks of the Lodgy - especially from the back, was not appealing, the interior took on a more minimalist approach, so even though the Lodgy could do almost everything the Innova could, you wouldn't feel like that. Some big features were missing as well. Even on the top end, you can only adjust the level of the headlights by a cable, it didn't have an electronic headlight leveler!! Granted, it was a brilliant 'car' with a whole bunch of practicality packed in, but Indians as we know, care more about road presence, looks, features, and stuff you can boast to your neighbor about, more than practicality. Thus, they never buy what they actually need, but will spend their money on the option (even if it might be a worse one), that will get them the most appreciation.

The Lodgy was too minimalist (if we can call it that), and people weren't aware of how good it was to drive or how good the ride was. It was sandwiched between two people favourites - the Ertiga and the Innova.

I could go on and on about all the reasons that led to the death of a great car, but to face facts, the biggest reason for its downfall was, plainly put, its lack of features and its unattractive looks.

Lodgy was on my shortlist but only if it was available in automatic guise.
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...asy-r-amt.html (Rumour: Renault Lodgy to get 6-speed 'Easy-R' AMT)

I like vans and I thought Stepway looked cool

In 2015, when I was looking to replace my aging Innova (pre-owned model of 2009), I had shortlisted and test driven many cars, SUVs, MUVs. Lodgy was one amongst them. I had take a longish test drive in Lodgy (almost 20km). Agreed it was quite a capable car. However, as deehunk & ryanMathew has rightly summed it above, the outdated looks, lack of features & bland interiors didn't make the cut for me. I went for the compact TUV3OO, which was offered at 2/3rd the price of Lodgy then, with more or less similar seating capacity and easy to drive within city & highways equally.
