I own a 2019 Jazz VX CVT myself, and having been spoiled by its excellent ergonomics and spacious interior, I find it incredibly hard to identify a replacement that offers such a relaxed and comfortable driving experience |
Like you’ve said, I too got spoiled by Jazz. Its comfort and space was superb in terms of most available at that time and now too. But, mileage was a problem as the petrol price in Kerala is almost 105-106. Jazz being a daily driver, used to travel close to 1500 kms a month and the meter shows an average of 13 kmpl which results in a petrol expense of 12-13k per month( Just quoting the fuel expense according to the fuel economy shown by the instrument console).
There was a huge confusion since Jazz left us about the replacement. Now the hatchback segment has very less cars compared to olden days, when hatchback segment was competitive. We test drove the Hyundai i20 and even thought it felt powerful, the space was a bit less compared to Jazz. Next, we drove the Sonet and almost booked it. It had a diesel automatic version, so thought it would be a better idea to shift towards mileage and economy. And we almost booked it.
Then came the MG Windsor EV. I was someone who thought, who would never buy an EV at anytime soon. But, my friends who already owned an EV started brainwashing me about how cheap it would be to own an EV and run down the city. For the city use, my friends told me it would be the best option. The size was another thing which kept me away for a bit of time as this was almost the size of Creta (more than 4 meter in length) and I was looking for a sub 4 m car. And, it got launched, test drove it. Felt a bit unpleasant coz it was the first ever EV which I drove. It will get sometime to get used to a EV, as you don’t feel the adrenaline rush. But, the space inside was what surprised me. It was damn spacious and feature loaded with enough power of 136 bhp. It has a decent range of 331 kms as company claimed but i am getting somewhere around 300 kms. Even, though the Windsor looks somewhere a bigger and bulkier version of Honda Jazz. Another thing, the boot is super huge. From a sub 4 meter hatchback to a 4.3 meter CUV was a big leap but I guess, I made a right choice according to my belief.
