Re: Kia Carens Review

What amazing pricing. I had thought 11-17 but the entry pricing is stupendous. This might be the cheapest car with 6 airbags, and this is a very usable 7 seater with a decent boot too! Innova may be finally in trouble.

This will do 5-10k units per month easy. Kia has another winner on their hands. Book ASAP folks- this one too will have long wait times soon.

Re: Kia Carens Review

So the cat is out among the pigeons. KIA did that with the Seltos and are trying to do again with the Carens, leaving no stones unturned with product design/features and getting an alluring launch price right so they pull crowd to the showrooms.

These prices (for 1.5NA petrol) are comparable to the Ertiga while XL6 is pricier. Starting prices of the 1.4P and 1.5D are also notable. Consumers will have a tough time shopping in this segment now while Maruti/Toyota must be wondering about the next steps.

That's a good analogy. I was expecting that Venue 1.2P and Sonet 1.2P to be non-sellers but I find good number of these variants on the road. To an average user a Sonet 1.2P, a Carens 1.5P or even an Ertiga 1.5P will be a good enough car to keep them happy. To you and me, all 3 cars could be very under-powered/uninspiring to drive (have driven the Venue and Ciaz, for reference).

So before anyone else could cannibalize the Sonet, KIA did it themselves with the Carens!

Re: Kia Carens Review

Smart Pricing by Kia. First time I see a Diesel vs Petrol Gap of 2.0 lakh. Never seen on any vehicle earlier. Tata used to keep a gap of 50-60K, 75K differential was norm though few carmakers would keep a gap upto 1.25 lakh.

So basically they know pretty well that petrol is not going to be sold anyway unless people interested in CNG (basically Taxi). They know most of the sales would come from Diesel segment for personal buyers so 8.99 is purely a marketing gimmick. My expected price on Diesel prestige model was around 12.00 lakh which they hit precisely.

Re: Kia Carens Review

16.99 for the fully loaded Diesel Auto means the on road price in Kerala would be below 20.5,which is an absolute value for money. The direct rival is said to be its own cousin,Alcazar but the pricing between both is like a day and night difference.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Excellent pricing for sure. the 1.4T Prestige plus is miles better than the XL6 Alpha manual. I think 1.5 will be weaker than XL6 since there is no mild hybrid tech here, and these variants can be avoided at best. I guess these are there to show a lower entry price only.

With this pricing, KIA will pull many XUV700 customers (long waiting list) as well as XL6 customers (no longer VFM against Carens?) mostly. I can also see some Safari and Alcazar bookings migrating to Carens.

If they have not skimped on quality to achieve this price point, it definitely looks VFM amongst all the 7 seater offerings in the 10-20L bracket.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Is this the first time that there is no difference between Petrol and Diesel engines for each variant (1.4 Turbo Petrol Vs 1.5 Diesel) except for 1.5 NA Petrol engine variants?

I think the 1.5 NA Petrol engine is to keep the start price below 10 Lakhs like Sonet is having 1.2 NA Petrol engine.

Also, isn't there any price difference between 6/7 seater in the top end? Or is there a fine print?

This is incredible VFM car for people looking for 6 seater irrespective of Petrol or Diesel.

Re: Kia Carens Review

the price reveal doesn't clearly say whether these prices are for 7 Seater or a 6 seater. I am guessing these are 7 seater pricing.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Again a market disruptor. From another brand (Kia) this time - Last time it was by XUV700.

The market dynamics are completely changing. The so-called A-class brands like Skoda, Jeep, Citroen, Even Tata for that matter are also under pressure, let alone the luxury marquee brands of the western and eastern world.

Re: Kia Carens Review

This is amazing pricing by Kia. With safety features like 6 airbags, ESC, VSM, BAS, HAC, DBC, ABS, TPMS, Isofix anchors, this is super vfm pricing. I believe the most VFM variant would be prestige with it’s 9.99 lacs ex-showroom pricing with touch screen with android auto / Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers and rear camera. Another blockbuster on the cards here!!

Re: Kia Carens Review

Kia hasn't mentioned the introductory pricing will last till how long but this is a really good starting point. Planning to book the Luxury Plus variant if Kia promises to give the delivery at the introductory pricing which is what I am not sure about, can anyone confirm if that can be the case?

Re: Kia Carens Review

With such smart pricing, Kia has entered in the Ertiga/XL6 territory. Everyone expected the prices of Carens to start from where the XL6 top-end prices end. This is fantastic pricing by Kia.

I believe only the Luxury Plus variant has an option for 6 seater which is mentioned in the pricing. All other variants are 7 seater.

Already in office WA group people talking, but apart from other brands, couple of them changing their booking from Sonet to Carens. To look at it, its strange; but looks like many booked Sonet as it was cheaper than Seltos and 6/7 seater is not must have for them but good to have. And these people decided on Kia brand vs Maruti. Now with this price, they get a cheaper car than Seltos with features (read mainly 6 airbag, esp, cruise control etc) and a 6/7 seat option.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Looks like the pricing is decided keeping Eritiga facelift next month, which is rumoured to come with 6 Speed TC AT.
I had booked Prestige Plus DCT, but by looking at the price, I'm completely confused
Thinking to upgrade to Luxury Plus Diesel AT
