Another incident of a supposedly ‘weak’ front drivetrain assembly of Scorpio-N? IIRC , we have 2-3 such cases reported on the forum and one of them is a major one wherein the owner has lost his limbs !

Other social media pages have also reported a similar issue with the Scorpio-N’s.

Such major damage at 50 kmph indeed raises eyebrows !

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

Hey fellow riders,

Had a bit of a wild ride at the Mahindra service center, and not in a good way!

So, my trusty Mahindra Scorpio-N Z6 MT 7STR had some issues, and I thought, "No worries, service center will sort it out, right?" Wrong!

Took it to Bathinda - AVC MOTORS, the authorized service center. Now, picture this: I roll in with my ScorpioN, all hopeful, only to be hit with a "Sorry, we're too busy" vibe. They literally refused to touch my ride because they had a gazillion other vehicles to deal with. No job card, no nothing.

Now, the kicker is my brake pads were on their last legs, and these guys were like, "Nah, we can't help you." Seriously? If I kept driving, it could have turned into a full-blown car disaster.

Oh, and let's not forget the leaky injectors in the engine. Talk about a double whammy! Even the GM of service center, seemed too busy to care.

Long story short, my ScorpioN got zero love at AVC MOTORS. Not cool, Mahindra, not cool.

Anyone else had similar service nightmares? Share your tales of woe! #MahindraServiceFail #ScorpioNSaga

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

I don't think the service center is to blame here if you didn't have a prior appointment. There were people who had given their vehicles for servicing before you, and they owe it to them to clear it first. I have had similar experience across different vehicle dealerships, and I understand that it is what it is, take appointment and move on. No one is forcing you to drive with bad brakes or other issues. You could have taken it earlier instead of waiting till last minute. In many showrooms, you call up, book appointment and go at appointed time and they will take the vehicle in for servicing.

I don't think the service center did anything wrong. They have a fixed number of service technicians and fixed number of hours in a day. They can only attend a fixed number of vehicles in a day. There will be many such people , each having their own emergency trying to force service center to fix their vehicle first. If they try to accomodate all of them, others who had taken appointment for service and given their vehicles for repairs will have to wait longer than expected due to this ad-hoc requests technicians keep attending to. I don't think it is fair for other people

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Mahindra after-sales service, but certainly not surprised. Also, I am not sure how hashtags work on team-bhp because as far as I know, they don't. You are better off tweeting this experience to Mahindra.

This would be the case with any manufacturer whose cars are being sold in decent numbers. It's a thing of past for most services (even outside automobiles) where we can show up impromptu and they would have bandwidth to support our request.

Since you were trying to overtake the car, probably the instantaneous speed at the time of impact would have been higher than 40 -50km/hr. just my thoughts..

Not clear whether you had any appointment or if they had confirmed to you to bring the vehicle.

That said, this is not even close to a nightmare if you did not have any prior appointment! Don’t take service centres for granted and plan your visits ahead.

I usually make it a point to book an appointment from the app or call the service center a couple of days ago to fix a time. Then I ensure to turn up before the rush so that they can take the vehicle in.

If you survey any of the major brand service centers including those of Mahindra, you will see a giant white board with all the cars planned for the day, how the booking was done and which technician they have assigned.

They cannot just deprioritize everything and attend to your car. Even a basic investigation will require some effort and if they find the issue needs further investigation, they’ll not be able to close existing commitments and/or your car will be in limbo. It’s about capacity management.

Usually, they’ll let you know if the vehicle can be attended to if you call before you go.

Does the XUV 700 have the similar problem or is it limited to the Scorpio N?

I'm looking for a new car and The Scorpio N is at the top of my list, but these occurrences are unsettling me. My usage is mainly highway.

Mahindra has sold much more vehicles than their service network can handle.
Other than DEF top-up no unplanned visit is entertained in the service stations if you don't have a prior appointment. Rather in Bangalore the service stations are so jam packed you will be lucky if they even allow you to park the vehicle inside the premise . Mostly its "please park outside and walk to service manger's cabin" only to hear the negative response.

Have always been a Maruti and Hyundai owner before getting the ScorpioN last year and I have never faced this issue before, atleast they always attend to you and diagnose the problem and based on the severity future actions are planned.

Mahindra needs to increase their service network as the earliest. At the current moment there is a severe shortfall of service stations as well as service engineers.

I cannot comment on this as don't have a concrete data. It's just that I have read quite a number of such issues reported for the Scorpio-N and almost 'none' for the XUV700.

Sorry , not sure if that input was of much help.

Can someone who got the delivery of 2024 MY confirm if the steering rattling noise is addressed? I'm looking forward to get one soon and only concern is the unsettling steering experience.

See if you can borrow someone`s vehicle for an extended drive - The steering is going to feel a bit weird at first, but in sometime you`d get used to it.

Its a dual pinion EPS, so there is no slack for you to feel any weight of it at low speeds, it will feel like the wheels and tires are flapping in the air

Once you reach highway speeds it would be easier to assess how it behaves.

There is a modified steering rack or components thereof. I am in the process of procuring one and hope to have mine changed in a month's time. Will keep you all posted.

The good news is that the steering wheel wobbles less now on my July '23 Z8 4x4 but was absolutely horrific on my last SN (a May Z6), both automatics.

I expect the whole wobbling problem to go away, but as the thar AC vent leakage on the windshield never truly did, we'll see how this pans out.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

Hello,

Travelling to Manali this Saturday and the lowest temperatures as per the weather app are around -3 to -6 the time I would be staying.

Could anyone please tell if I should do anything about coolant or washer fluid? Everything (coolant and washer fluid mix) is as per service center setup

Would welcome any advice

From the online owner's manual:

Coolant in the radiator will survive up to ambient temperature of -15 degree C. If the ambient temperature is expected go below -15 degree C, during operation, the engine will require a different coolant/coolant concentration. Contact a Mahindra Authorised Dealer for assistance.
