Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

How is this update from Toyota to use only RON 95+ fuel for the Hycross impacting our forum members? While Toyota does call out that it is recommended, I am not sure if we need to start worrying if we do not find a bunk with the specific type of fuel say on a highway run.

Personally, I have never used these higher octane fuels and had to spend some time figuring out which petrol bunks have this available around the areas that I regularly visit and tank up.

Some part of me feels cheated to see this update after buying the car and having done a few tank fulls already. If I had this information before purchasing the car, would I have thought twice or changed my decision? Probably not! Will it burn a huge hole in my pocket which will make the running costs unaffordable? Probably not!

But then as the customer there is a feeling of being blind sided or being forced to comply with a particular requirement after the deal was done. It's more of helplessness, what other options do I have than to comply. Disappointing.

Sorry for the late reply.

You mean this issue happens randomly due to rear windshield?

Also, heard from one of my friends that he also faced similar issue with his Oct 2024 MFD Fortuner AT.

The showroom isn't entirely wrong–I paid 7k, and had to re-adhere pretty soon after installation.

It's holding up okay now. However, I think it looks much better with the cladding than without.

Yes, I faced this trouble for about 8-10 times in 2 months before approaching toyota where I learnt that this fault has occurred in many hycross and it goes away when the back glass is changed

It should charge as long as the gear shifter is in D or P. It will not charge in N since the generator is disengaged

Long pressing the "Mode" button will mute audio.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Got a nick on the left side rear end just above the tyres. Not sure how this happened, if it was brushing something while turning it would have looked different and continued on to the wheel arch cladding. This one looks scratched only at a couple of places.
Would it be an over enthusiastic two wheeler or auto trying to squeeze in?

Yes I do agree that it looks nice with the cladding on. How long since the fix to refix and how long since then that it’s holding up? While I like the cladded look, a peeled off cladding is too much of an eye sore. If it’s a problem that's certain to arise then best stay away I guess. But if with the second time finding the solution is more or less long term then

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Yesterday I saw a Seltos exit a parking and clip the rear edge of an Ertiga. The Seltos front bumper was left hanging open but not a scratch on the Ertiga because of a mammoth looking steel pipe rear bike protector on the Ertiga. Made me want to protect my Hycross in the same way.

Anyone got any alternative bike protector than the standard accessory? Are aftermarket fittings legal in this case, since I heard front bull bars are illegal? I really don't like the look of the standard accessory and this was the only accessory that I hadn't fitted. However, yesterday's incident changed my mind, so looking to get it fixed ASAP, let me also know where I can get it fixed in Bangalore. Thanks in advance!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Just got back from my trip to Vizag last weekend & was able to experience Hycross's capabilities.

Trip Distance: 1035km
Fuel efficiency as per MID for whole trip: 15.1 km/l
Total Odometer reading: 1349 km
  1. Suspension is well tuned. The car just glides over undulations of the road surface & the passengers don't find the journey tiresome.
  2. Our choice of opting for 8 seater variant was validated. We had the flexibility to sit 3 in the middle row & leave one side empty in 3rd row. Practicality is what we were searching for in a family car & I believe we got abundance of it now.
  3. We did couple of small ghat runs & car never felt underpowered. The engine tone remains high if you press down the accelerator pedal but that might be because of other factors. The engine pull is there & the car picks up speed fast too.
  4. I got a 15.1 km/l mileage reading in the MID for the entire trip & I believe that's good considering a car of this size. The usage involved highway runs, travel within the Vizag city, couple of small ghat runs & also took the car inside zoo where we had to keep the AC running almost the entire 2hours as not everyone wanted to get out in heat & look at animals.
  5. Headlights & fog lights are pathetic. I checked with the dealership & they couldn't provide a solution for this. I am planning to go for a fog light modification in near future. Anyone who knows the current draw/wattage for fog lights?Surprisingly I could not find this in online manual.

Also, the car looks much better with the wheel arch claddings. I got them from vvrcarcare for ₹7k. It now comes with 3M tape and I have added some from my own as well while fixing them. Toyota should have provided this in all models. These are the kind of cost cutting that I absolutely hate.

I also got the 1st service done after returning from the trip. Unlocked those customisable settings to open/close windows & sunroof from remote. The service center folks did not know about this initially but they went back did their research, came back in 30 minutes & did the job. Cost ₹0.

I observed that when closing all windows + sunroof with remote, the sunroof sliding layer doesn't close. Is this expected behaviour? The service center guys were curious too but since I was the 1st guy who even asked for this they don't have an answer yet.

We took delivery of the Hycross Exclusive Edition on 6th June; and our experience with the foglights has largely been the same. I suggest you to check out Bhpian CEF_beasts' post on his Foglights upgrade to Aozoom FLP2030 ones'. He installed it at the dealership to avoid any warranty issues, and we plan on doing the same later down the line.

I would also like to ask, would it be okay for the car to cross the 1st service deadline by a few hundred kilometres? We are currently out of station and by the looks of things, the Hycross may reach 1500 km when we return home.
Here's our car

A few hundred KMS is not going to hurt the car, but if possible, get it serviced where you are currently. First service shouldn't take much time anyways . It is mostly an inspection.

I asked my dealership but they don't provide any such solution. But the folks mentioned that I can get it done outside.

1st service is just basic checks & washing. If you don't have any issues with the vehicle then it's fine. Just check with your dealership & let them know beforehand. You can even get it done at any Toyota service centre.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I have booked a GX(O) Silver metallic on the 5th of April 2025, and on 5th of June the dealer has come back saying car is available as there has been some cancellations from somebody else who booked the same variant/color. They assured the car can be allotted to me, provided i expedite the finance and full payment.

I am asking them in return for when the car will be available in the showroom for PDI and viewing for which they do not have a definite answer.

In the mean while the bank has approved my mortgage request, and I am in between the bank and the showroom. Bank is urging to release the fund anytime to the showroom. But I am holding that, until I get some definite dates from the showroom. Can you advise how to go about this, as this is my first purchase with a mortgage.

Secondly, what has been the insurance quoted for the GX(O) in your purchases? Do you recommend any other provider other than the one from Toyota?

Lastly what is the best tyre upgrade on the GX (O) retaining the 16" stock wheels.

Do not pay any penny till the time you see the car personally. Tell the showroom that you'll do an instant payment once you've seen the car. Ask them to share the VIN of the car in question.
