My grouse with Honda India and dealership Cartec Honda @ Ahmedabad

.

You're right. This is why cars that are left over in the stock are given away at huge discounts. This, and test drive cars are often used as "part donors". Nothing new, but service centers don't do it in such brazen manner. Something tells me that Honda is no longer caring about India market. I know as a matter of fact that some SCs do this, especially to cars that are waiting for a long drawn insurance repair process.

Never buy a Honda car. The spare parts are very hard to procure, more so if you do a lot of touring in remote places like me. I repeat. I saw someone stuck at a remote location, and failed to procure a critical component (ECM related) so the car couldn't run. Local garages can only help if they find the part in scrap or have some other connection.

I suspect they don't even have a good supply chain within their own dealerships which is why they had so much difficulty getting the accessories for your car. Besides, scuff marks indicate some other wrong doings. Maybe they never delivered the car with its original parts to you in the first places? (Just a conspiracy theory)

My experience with 2 Honda dealerships (now one) in thane has been the same; poor. Unnecessary ‘value added’ bill padding , inflated estimates, random replacements.

For a minor problem with the front damper of my gen 4 honda city they wanted to change the steering rack and gave estimate of 50k. I just told them change the damper. After that every two months I used to keep getting their scare mongering calls from the ‘service advisor’ especially near month ends !

I got the car checked over from another honda dealer without background of the other dealer. The second dealer said all is perfect with the steering before recommending another random set of unnecessary parts

The steering was all ok for two more years and even at the time when I sold the car.

To think of this now Nissan dealers will come to the mix. Time to really brush up on caveat emptor.

The mechanics at my local Honda ASS have all moved to VAG. Every mechanic is new. I am losing interest in my ASS. I hope to see Honda fix this as a lot of competition lies ahead. Our auto policies are decades old as it is with aviation as well. We need stricter laws on the consumers side.

By any chance your Honda dealer is Dakshin Honda E city/ MG road? If yes, then the same owner holds VW E city showroom. Hence the mechanic change!

My decade old Maruti Dzire's ECM conked off in the middle of the Sealink. The ECM wasn't available anywhere in Maharashtra & it finally arrived after 2 weeks from their factory. Remember we're talking of Maruti here, I shudder to think how much time other brands would have taken!

Thanks for sharing, I had similar experience with the ASS when my City was involved in a "very very" minor collision with a two wheeler. The brackets below headlamp broke costing 400 each, the ASS however quoted 17k. They cooked up stories saying bumper will have to be replaced, entire front end will require new parts. There was only ever a scratch on the bumper. :Frustrati

I mailed HCIL and complained regarding the manager as he was not keen on selling me the spare parts and a few days later he ended up calling me and apologizing. In my case HCIL was helpful, even more so because of their involvement in the fair trade policy where apparently by law, they must sell over the counter spare parts. (Learnt from TeamBHP)

I fixed the car myself and miraculously, I managed to not have any gaps between the headlight and bumper as well. Runs fine with no rattles.

As of Dec 2024, HCIL has seemed to have finally started listing spare parts on Boodmo's website.

Agree with you in full. Honda's customer service support is below par and hence they are losing sales. I have the same brackets issue but still, dealers are not ready to change the spare but they want to do body shop work. Only 1 dealer in Trichy offered to change the brackets but they did not have that part in stock then. Do you have the part number with you please so that I can try FNG route? Thanks

This is true, ECM is the last thing you want to lose in the middle of a trip. It's basically game over, like an engine seize. Also, expensive enough that you can't carry an extra one like a spare set of fuses/spark plugs rl:

Sometimes I ask mechanics why perfect-looking cars are standing for months beside their garages covered in dust. Why not sell them to someone like me. It's always some Honda/Nissan/low selling car, and they are struggling to find a compatible electronic/mechanical part.

FNG route is not recommended, the bracket will work but won't be upto OEM standards as FNG's mostly use counterfeit brackets causing slight gaps. You can order these OEM parts on Boodmo instead. Part numbers are included in the images on their website.

Send a mail to Honda Cars India Limited explaining your situation and also mentioning that they are by law, required to sell you over the counter spare parts. Your local dealer should call you (mention the dealer name and location in the e-mail) If not available in stock, dealership will have to order it.

Hope I helped, Thanks!

I’m planning to upgrade the audio system in my Honda Elevate ZX but don’t want anything too heavy. The speaker quality seems fine to me, so I’m just looking to add a subwoofer for a bit of extra bass. I’d prefer an underseat subwoofer with a builtin amplifier, as I don’t want to sacrifice boot space. Bass tubes are definitely off the table for this reason.

From what I’ve heard, the OE head unit in the Elevate (I believe it’s Alpine) should support adding a subwoofer without requiring major modifications. I’m not an audiophile, so I’m not too worried about minor details in the sound.

This will actually be my first ever audio upgrade, so I’m a bit of a noob in this area. I’m planning to buy the subwoofer from Thailand and then have it installed by a professional here. Can someone guide me on which products I should consider and if there’s anything specific I should watch out for during the installation?

The stock speakers in the Elevate are of very poor quality. I would recommend that you change them first. Get the audio guy to give you a demo with either Infiniti Reference (I have them in my elevate) OR Infinity Primus (if budget is an issue) OR some higher end ones, and let your ears decide. You may not even need a sub-woofer.

We recently brought home a Honda Elevate CVT ZX R edition. I went through a great deal of dilemma going through all the reviews. At one point I put behind the NVH factor and made up mind to go ahead.

Made a booking in Sundaram Honda, Chennai and took the delivery in a week. The dealer was very cooperative for PDI and I had a prior relationship whenI purchased a Honda city back in 2021.

clap:If I may know the on road price. Accessories purchased. The additional cost for wipers, changing to Michelin tyres and damping.

It's been over a year, and there are still no updates. Does anyone in this forum know whether Honda is pursuing crash test ratings for the Elevate?

Have the NCAP results been released yet? Sorry I couldn't find this information anywhere.

Hello can anyone from Bangalore who has recently purchased a Honda Elevate CVT share the price they were able to get it at? This will help me also negotiate better. Also, if any preferred dealer near Hebbal based on your personal experiences

Hi while browsing Elevate on Acko drive I saw two versions 2024 and 2025 (attached screenshot)...is there a new 2025 model planned as well? I am aware of that "Apex" upgrade which is already rolled out...the 2025 model price shows roughly 30k higher...anyone know what it is ?

Also is this acko drive thing reliable to actually buy too or a scam?

Nope. Not yet. Honda should show some proactiveness and volunteer for a safety rating. GNCAp BNCAP- anything will do

Hi. Wanted to share the accessories that we got for our Honda Elevate ZX CVT over the last couple of months. The list turned out to be quite long.

Many thanks for the very informative post. I will be taking delivery of Elevate ZX Auto sometime in the week beginning 20th Jan. The accessories that will be purchasing from the Dealer (Landmark Honda) will be:

Dual DashCam that has Landmark branded: Front Camera is either 2k or 4k and the rear is full HD - costing Rs. 12k.

The dealer has been pestering me to take the Basic Kit Accessories. Many of the items are superfluous for me. Hence will be getting mud guards, the mat for the boot and the floor mats - that have been recommended highly here, such as GFX.

TPMS - haven't yet decided which one to get.
USB A to USB Cable, for my earlier vehicle I had got from Duracell which I will continue to use here.

Will check on Ventilated seat accessory - I think buying it from outside is a better option. Dealer is quoting Rs. 6000/- per seat.

If there is something that is very important for the vehicle, please do add.
