Hello Bhpians,

Since a couple of days I'm facing a weird issue with the central locking of Punto Evo.

Has anyone of you faced this issue? Please help me in knowing what could be faulty and how this could be resolved.
The solenoid on of of your door locks is kaput, which means the lock needs changing. Should cost around 3k.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Thanks Micki9559 and keroo1099.

I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and reconnected the battery. The issue seems to be resolved now. Will get it checked in the next visit to ASC.

Aslo Micki9559 could you please let me know where you get your car serviced in Dharwad.

I have to get the transmission work done as I'm facing problem with synchronizer of 3rd gear and also issue with the lockset, the key takes some effort to rotate.

I enquired about the same at Sutaria Automobiles. They quoted 22k for transmission work and 14k for the replacement of lockset.

Dutifully took an appointment with Sky Moto as it is the only Fiat ASC now open in Pune.

I'm pretty confused about what they understood during the whole process:
- Did they understand that i was there for a timing chain replacement? In which case, why would they talk about the water pump and pulley etc.?
- If they thought that it was about the accessory belts, then it shows poor knowledge on their part about MJD engines which is not reassuring in the least.
I service my car at Sky Moto and I had good experience so far. May be cause of the way I handled them in the past
Did you get the work done? Let me know if you need help with Sky Moto.

Where do you get your fiat serviced ? Do you know any good FNG for fiats in Hubli-Dharwad ?

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Finally got my Punto registration renewed for another 5 years until 2029. The Punto has been our beater car with 1.2 lakh kms on the odo and currently being used by my daughter for driving to college. The car has been doing very well and still an absolute gem to drive. I have been getting the car serviced at an FNG, Pride cars in Uttarahalli Bangalore since the last 8 years and it has been mostly fill it, shut it and forget it for the last 5 years and I give the car for service once in a year as usual.

The renewal process at HSR RTO was a breeze since I went through a driving school contact. The actual fee paid to the RTO was Rs.6720 for which bill was given. I had to pay another Rs.7000 to the driving school as service fee. I had to take the car earlier to RTO this week for inspection. It was not very strict in my opinion. Had seen atleast 15 more cars with the registration done around the same time which had come for inspection. Only mine and a Skoda Fabia stood out of the crowd with the red color and shining bright.
My son was the happiest one as he is 17 now and practically grew up along with the Punto. Waiting to drive the car legally from next year as well.

Hmm... I don't remember exactly, but from a quick check, I had paid only 1000+380 I think for i10. Had registered on Vahan and the RTO had asked me to pay some eco tax.

There was an increase in Vehicle re-registration cost after 15 years from April 2022 onwards and the current cost for LMV is Rs.5000 and Rs.6720 is the total cost including other miscellaneous cost. Did you apply for re-registration recently or before April 2022?

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

It was done last year. I checked again on Vahan itself. It was 850 for the renewal, and 1000 for the environmental tax.

It was a pretty simple process and just needed to have PUC certificate.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Dear Team BHP-ians,
Could the forum members based in Dehradun recommend a reliable/expert FNG/ mechanic for maintenance and upkeep of a Grande Punto (pre facelift) MY2014?
Thanks in advance for the same.

Few years back, I have ordered just the cover from Boodmo for few of my friend's cars and they delivered. But one of the last orders was cancelled by Boodmo.

So, you can try your luck by ordering on Boodmo as well as placing an order through FASS

Fiat part number: 735407581 (MRP Rs 209)

Boodmo product link: https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-plug-21057193/

If unsuccessful, your last best would be to take from a scrap or donor car

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

This post is for the Fiat cars with MJD and torn/burst Intercooler hose. I recently worked on a Punto MJD. Had run 1,98,000kms and the complaint was heavy black smoke all the time and very poor pickup. upon closer inspection i found out that the intercooler hose had a huge cut. Tried searching on Boodmo for the intercooler hose and also 99 rpm but none of them had it in stock, forget my local market. At last found a radiator hose from Indica Diesel in my mechanics garage which had similar bends and was a good fit with the clamps.

Pipe with the label intercooler outlet is what I'm referring to

Attaching link as to help others who have similar torn intercooler pipe.

This is a temporary fix!

Regards
Ashton Castelino
