Sid's got this eye for detail when it comes to his Red-Beluga.

I personally liked that Red-Stitching and surprisingly the 3D Kagu mats just add to the Aura of the Premium Hatchback. I am so impressed that i too might add the same pattern on my soon to arrive Palio GTX

There is no black smoke or such signs from the engine though. The lack of power is not consistent - on some days the car behaves really well, while on some days its sluggish.

Any pointers on what this could be due to?

Also, I am looking at replacing the battery - a dealer I went to suggested upgrading to a 55Ah battery (I think I got the units right) instead of the 50/52 that is installed in the car. Is it a recommended upgrade? And, What brand is suggested?
Sounds like the turbo's plumbing is not proper. Might have sprung a leak somewhere after they dismantled some of the components. Some cars will throw up warnings on the MFD if there is a drop in pressure, don't know how it is on the Fiat MJD. Do get it checked out, there's no better wat of knowing really.

55Ah seems to be a decent uprgade to me. I did upgrade my Linea's battery when I had it changed a year ago, but I don't remember the specs, need to check it.

@ PAVAN Sir: Any reason why your Punto's driver's head rest is fixed backwards? I suppose the photos were taken soon after you had the seat covers done. Everyone's a critic on t-bhp

Is sid banned on the forum? Where has he done the leather work from? Finish is nice. Also I do see a red strip at the bottom of the front door panel. Another personal touch? Looks nice.

The red strip at the bottom of the door panel you see is the original paint work of the door panel itself !

What is the seat cover material? Is it a slip on cover or a stitch work?

I believe its slip on, as the stitch work would cost more as it is more labout intensive.

By the way, why is sid not posting, where is he?

Sir, Do slip on covers have same level of fit and finish as stitch work? I am planning for my Linea's interior upgrade soon. I am thoroughly confused if going for leather upholstery or PVC / PU. How hard is it to maintain leather?

^^ Congrats GrayBerry ! Good to see another sport on the Forum. The decals on white so look quite good. Put up your ownership report soon, would like to know how you narrowed down to the Punto.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Took the delivery of a Red Emotion for a friend today. Since he was a bundle of nerves with this being his first ride, I had to take the wheels from the showroom to the office basement. Had a 6km drive meanwhile. Some major differences noted from my 2009 Emo Pk.

1. Interior Plastic quality is better (of course!!).
2. Interior Fit and finish, panels are much better aligned.
3. Steering felt surprisingly lighter! (Anyone has got any clues on this??)
4. Car came with Acceleres as opposed to my GT3s.
5. No Cigarette lighter offered
6. Short turning radius.
7. Front doors are still the same, but the rear doors are definitely thinner/lighter! Doesn't have the thud as in my ride
8. Seat belt buzzer not present (at least, I couldn't get it to work). Please let me know if this feature is omitted now or else I will get my pal to pay a visit to the workshop.
9. In my ride, the steering locks if the key is removed and the steering is turned to one side. There was a trick to turn the key and flick the steering to unlock it. Couldn't get the current one to lock up. Is this feature gone too?
10. USB Slot : New model : Vertical Old model : Horizontal
11. HU : The current one deffo sounded better. Is it the HU that reads from the USB or is it B&M?? because, I cant get my ride to read some tracks @320kbps which this HU played fine. If its B&M, where can I find the upgrade?
12. New USB option in the Media menu (the menu from the steering wheel). Not present in my ride.

Overall, the car is lighter and taller than my 3+ year old beauty.
I have one small detail which is probably missing from Puntos since later half of 2009: its the dummy port for the sunglass holder. In Linea, there's a sunglass holder. IN my ride, there are 2 dummy clips in the place of the holder. The roof liner already has gaps made for that. I have been looking out for a Linea sunglass holder from day 1 to fit in! Even the showroom guys are surprised
How many of you have a dummy port there? In the current model, they just have a moulded fold at that point.
