Buddy, you are playing with fire.

Apart from some weird sound from belt, I doubt if there is an indication to change the belt. It will just snap on a fateful day. FIAT mechanics who were trained in FIAT factory just advice to replace that as per schedule.

I don’t remember if I/when I had replaced the spark plugs at least not in the last 40-50k km. And I heard timing belt can run for 1lakh km
I won’t comment much on spark plugs. However, 50-60k kms, I assume is a good life for them. I too changed them at 88k kms proactively since I wasn’t sure as to when they were replaced last.

Owners manual for TJET says replace belt at 60k kms or 4 years, whichever comes first

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

Can someone please confirm if the TJet (2010 model) has 1 Lambda/O2 sensor or 2?
99rpm lists only 1, but my mechanic says there are 2. Confused

I have also received 3.5 litres of 5W-40 Engine Oil and a bottle of Hightec Engine Cleaner Xpress from Rowe which i ordered via SafetyImpex. 2 litres of OEM transmission gear oil from 99rpm.

My Blue & Me has also died and I am just going to get it disconnected to avoid the battery drain issue. I am also considering getting a full body repaint as it has picked up quite a lot of scratches over the years from the previous owner with a few bubbles and rust patches on the side skirts.

How much should I be looking to spend on a whole body repaint? Any recommendations for paint shops in Chennai would be appreciated. I am currently considering Tinkr.
Am I missing anything else that warrants a replacement at this point of time?

Hi superblover, Alternator fails without much of a warning. So, get it repaired proactively. Apart from that, check engine mounts(total 3). Since you are getting timing belt/clutch work done, it can be replaced along with that.

Hi! I have just seen your private message. Sorry couldn't reply privately as I am still a newbie.

You had asked me about the procurements of sparkplugs. I didn't find the OEM spark plugs as expected instead, I replaced them with NGK spark plugs with the same part number. Fortunately for me, my local auto parts store had them in stock.

Shree Mahavir Auto Parts ( MAHAVIR GROUP) - maduravoyal. Make sure you carry a unit for reference.

I would recommend checking the date of manufacture for the timing belt and auxiliary belt as I believe any plastic or rubber part manufactured six years earlier is not as reliable as we think they are. This was the case when I was hunting for parts. The OEM parts were too old and I had to go for good quality after-market parts, which turned out to be more expensive than the OEM ones.

I also recommend changing the water pump while replacing the timing belt just as a preventative maintenance.

The official dealer for OEM Fiat marts in Chennai is Namo Auto Agencies
https://g.co/kgs/Ei2jtbD

It is exactly like ordering parts from 99rpm ( parts come from the same warehouse). The upside is that you can know beforehand if the part is available or not, instead of waiting for ages. he is very professional and is quite interactive until the product is delivered.

As for the paint job, I have heard people get it done for 40K and also upwards of 1 Lack. Obviously the more expensive the better the quality. Just enquire around and see what suits you the best.

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

Hi guys.

My Tjet's keyfob had worn out so I ordered a new keyfob case off Amazon and switched the circuitry and key into the new case. The remote buttons work fine but I can no longer start the car with this key (works fine with the spare non remote key), so I'm guessing the immobiliser chip has somehow stopped working. FYI, the battery is new. And I have taken a lot precaution to do it with properly. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Probably the issue is with the transponder (please see attached pic)

I believe you transferred it from the old remote shell to the new one. The transponder is delicate and prone to damage - it might have gotten damaged while transferring.

Over the years of our Punto ownership, we have faced issues with remote key lock and unlock buttons. We replaced the soft lock and unlock rubber pads few times.

Finally we ordered a replacement remote key shell from Amazon and took it to a Car Key and Remote duplication centre. The guy replaced only the outer half (with lock and unlock keypads) citing he's not confident to transfer the transponder.

Facing similar issues again, we went ahead and got a duplicate remote with a sturdy aftermarket shell last year. No complaints now

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

Thank you so much! How idiotic of me to not realise this. I saw the video and reopened the old key shell and bingo, the transponder was still there. I didn’t dare try to remove it for fear of breaking it. I'll just stick with the old one, since it's working perfectly fine.

Thank you again — your video was a lifesaver!

Good that you did not throw away the old remote shell

Replace only the outer half (with soft buttons) with new one if you face issues locking and unlocking
