Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

I hope there are some Tjet owners still active in Tbhp. I want to change my stock Headunit. I was told couple of years ago that Sony 5500 was a direct fit and it had android auto etc.

My requirements:
1) No cutting of Dashboard
2) Android Auto
3) Steering controls (Not a deal breaker)

Is there a new Headunit which fits the bill? Doesnt anyone have an android auto based HU in theit Tjets/Lineas?

I have heard good things for Vroom Pointe and Car Menders. However, both are in eastern part of city.

2. The car has just completed 43k km. I notice some harshness over potholes. There are lot of thuds over the road undulations.
This looks like strut pad/elastic pad has worn out.

These tyres are selling at around 8k online.
How is availablity of these tyres? Are there any other options worth considering?
Continental UC 6 seems good. You can have a look. It’s available rather easily.

Do you guys get it changed regularly?
I haven’t changed/used the spare tire since 8 plus years. Hope it stays the same.

How do I assess whether the tyre had become hard enough to warrant a change.
Time is an important factor. Six years of usage/non usage is just enough to warrant a tyre change.

Which model of the Tjet do you have, pre or post facelift?

If post facelift, you have lots of 3rd party Android units that will integrate with the dash and retain most of the original functions that came with the car. I have the Isudar PX6 in mine, and the sound quality is far far superior to the stock HU.

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

I just installed this one from Woodman. The unit is great, sound quality without amp is much more superior than the stock one.

I find maps to be very slow but then again i installed it only today, so I'll give it a couple of days for all downloads and updates to complete before concluding. The interface is slick and responsive. You have buttons. Great quality screen. Overall, this is the best we have got for Linea pre 2014 models.

Issues with maintenance of my Fiat Linea- T-Jet 125s

1. It was around Sep 19 when BS6 vehicles were introduced and sold with higher prices. On the other hand, BS4 vehicles were sold at a price which we would just dream of buying. This is when I bought a new FIAT Linea Tjet 125s for Rs 8.4 lakhs (on road), listening to my heart and for the adrenaline rush what it gives me till date when the turbo kicks in. Things were much better during my stay at Mumbai but not to my 100% satisfaction, the car was serviced with utmost care and dedication at the Landmark Jeep service centre at Andheri (E). However, the issues pending since I took the delivery of the car which have not been resolved until now.

2. I have shifted to Visakhapatnam due to my work in 2020. 'Orange' is the authorised service centre here for Jeep and Fiat. They lack support and are just not interested in reviving my car despite me writing to FIAT/ Jeep India.

3. The 12V socket cover broke in 02 day after taking delivery (Photo of the same is placed at attachment).

4. The right tail light cracked and sheared off without any physical impact or accident.

5. The front bumper on the right side has cracked and resting on the supporting screw, again without any physical impact or accident.

6. The left hand support cushion just rests on gravity, it came out within weeks after delivery.

7. There is rusting below the right side rear wind shield right from the time the car was delivered. It has only worsened over period of 2.5 years.

8. Extremely unhappy and unsatisfied by Orange Service Centre, Visakhapatnam and Jeep/ FIAT India. This is the state for a car under warranty and multiple unaddressed issues for a new car which has clocked about 20,000 Kms and only 2.6 years

Re: Issues with maintenance of my Fiat Linea- T-Jet 125s

Hey Sunil, you got an awesome deal on the Linea 125. It’s still is one of the most powerful car in its segment. FIAT service is definitely hit or miss. To ask for something on a product that is out of production which was a moderate success is further challenging. Service should be better though for an under warranty product. My 2 cents .

This will be tough to get especially as a separate child part. Did you checked on 99rpm.com ?

I doubt if you can convince them on this. If you want to make it look better, either put a red tape or get it from some online website like 99rpm.

Again, if you want to make it look good, get it repaired on your own instead of waiting for warranty. This will be tough again to prove that it’s broken on it’s own.

Can’t comment since no pic. However, hand rest is a sturdy part and generally never breaks.

Since there are so many problems in your car, how old was your car already when you took delivery? It looks like weather has taken a toll already.
Did you got anything in written regarding fixing of rust( or other things) since it was present even during delivery?

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

Thanks abhi_tjet for your inputs and guidance. My car was just about 06 months old before I took the delivery. Further, will check 99rpm and source spares rather than my dependency on the authorised service centre.

Do not delay attending to this. Approach a good private garage that does body work and ask them to attend to this. Forget about the warranty or any further expectation from Fiat India. They have packed up their bags. The support network can manage regular service. For issues like this, its best to approach a good body shop. They can sort out the bumper alignment or fitment too.

Walk into a Bosch garage and ask them if they can help.

.. change.
Thanks for the compliment and the inputs. Most of the things remain as they were at the time i posted. Was super busy with work hence there wasn't much running (odo still at 43.8k).

Just to update some info that i could gather-

Some of the garages that i enquired (along the link road in Borivali) admitted that they use salvaged or non OE parts for Fiat cars. Hence dropped the idea of going to them for next service. I visited Landmark Andheri and the facility is simply incomparable to the previously authorised RS motors. Will be servicing my car here from the next time. Most of the service centers have pick/drop facility hence shouldn't be an issue for what is supposed to be once in an year activity. Will keep in mind to get the pads checked as suggested.

Will change tyres before monsoon. Leaning towards Michelin or Yokos depending on availability. Yet to finalize the vendor though.

-Update-
The Amaron battery started showing signs of weakness exactly in 47th month from the purchase date. Promptly changed it with the same make and model.

Can you share more details-
  • From where did you source it?
  • Cost?
  • Did you fit it(diy) or did you get it fitted?
  • Any other hardware that you have changed (ice related) alongwith this head unit?
  • Any compatibility issue with steering controls or the Bluetooth connection?

1. Sourced it from here
https://www.isudar.com/collections/s...39416142954578

2. The link above should have the cost but I think I got mine for about $300. Shipping to India was some crazy rate so I had it sent to my cousin in the US who hand carried it down for me (free shipping).

3. Had a friend fit it for me, but I helped. It's not a straight fit as the locking pins don't align with the OE slots in the bracket so one ends up with a slight in/out play.

4. The supplied harnesses are all plug and play and all steering controls work.

5. I have damped my doors and replaced the OE speakers with Infinity Reference which are powered through a Hertz amp under the passenger seat.

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

Today morning, my t-jet started to jerk a bit after start and check engine light started flashing. Took it to service center and turns out that two ignition coils are kaput. Almost 7k lighter, service tech pointed out that there was sand inside the headlamp assembly.

Went back inside and saw that the dust cap inside the engine bay was gone! Sigh, to make matters worse, it's not available as a spare from Fiat and have to find some crashed car now to get that cover.

Any tips?

He also said that there is some sound during/after start which could indicate it's time to change flywheel and clutch along with that. Sure is one expensive lady to maintain

Re: Fiat Linea T-Jet : Test Drive & Review

My 2019 T-Jet had adequate cooling in the first year, then after a year in 2020 during the lockdown the compressor just didn't turn on, afterwards when the lockdown eased visited FCA and there was no refrigerant in the system but they couldn't find any leaks even after pressurizing the whole system for 5 hours so filled the gas and cooling was good.

Move on to 2021 cooling reduced drastically in May, again visited FCA because the car was in warranty and they kept the system pressurised overnight and changed a valve and again cooling was good for the rest of the year. Now in 2022 cooling reduced again to the extent that it was struggling to cool down the cabin even after driving for 5 hours continuously

So finally decided to skip FCA as the car was out of warranty and visited my trusted FNG(the guy who runs this is an EX-FCA expert especially in electricals)so his diagnosis was that the car has only 40% gas and he topped it to around 450 grams and played around with the low pressure valve of which the plastic cover was missing (FCA didn't bother to fix it after refilling the gas in 2021) and claimed that something was wrong with the said valve.

After the refrigerant top up we kept the engine and AC running for around 30 mins and first time in over 3 years I found that the radiator fan runs on high speed also, it kept on switching between low and high speeds and I don't recall the fan ever running at high speeds earlier, also I should mention that the cooling is now great and its become a chiller, I don't know what was wrong with the stock system or what FCA did to it twice under warranty or what special this man did even with the lack of specialist machines which most dealers have these days for HVAC works but the AC now feels amazing

Car is 8yrs old and has run 75k KMs. Remapped.

Did not ask for a quote as yet but sooner or later I just have to get it done I guess.

Anyway, after the ignition coil replacements and a new battery car is running fine now.
