Have ordered the door dampeners, might come by weekend.

The door handles need to be changed, but due to other restorations, my tinker is not able to give me time.

Other thing i forgot to mention, the running board rubbers came in yesterday, not original but OE.

can you please enlighten us by telling what you mean by "" not original ,but OE"".???'
as per my info OE means Original Equipment!!

Yes Sir you are right. But in Bangy some spare shops refer OE also as Original Equivalent. Hence the confusion.

P.S: I notice that you don't quote your posts properly. Please go through the Board rules before proceeding further to reduce the burden of our dear Mods.

The quote should begin with [quote] and end with [ /QUOTE]

In one of my earlier posts I had mentioned about the VW original Fuel Tap Here is the photo of the same. the aluminium one is the fuel tap/the light brown ones are the mesh type filtering mechanism

Earthed is right.

In Namma Bengaluru, we have stockists who sell ORIGINAL EQUIVALENT if not ORIGINAL.

I clearly understand the term ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT- but how can a rubber mat be termed as "EQUIPMENT"

On that context i mentioned "OE but not ORIGINAL"

Hope i am able to clear doubts.

EartheD, you bugger first pick your call, and i want that dampeners first thing tomorrow.

Is not oem known as original equipment manufacturer in automobile industry and why cannot mat be an oem item when a small TVS nut and bult is called oem supply

Greetings!! -- have not been active here for a while now so just catching up.
Good to see the progress on your car.
BTW, the basket weave continued to be used till the 70's even with the high backs.

Nice to have you back on the forum Byas

Well i read today about the Basket Weave design, yes you are perfectly right. But late 66 few cars out of West Germany started having ordinary rexine or of a different pattern, my original seat material still exists in the car and certainly not a Basket weave.( I got the Basket weave design for the Bus, i would surely have gone with it if it existed in my Bug too)

Today afternoon the seats and door pads came, and i am on 7th heaven with the way its come out.

Keeping busy till weekend, will post pics in a couple of days.

And now i gear up for the last few pending things on the list, and hopefully if time and money permits, i might be able to wrap up the Restoration before the new year starts.

Yes Buddy, Beetle parts are available without any trouble, only trouble being the import duty. But thats OK. We can live with that, there are few NOS spares with few dealers, who quote exorbitant prices.

I learnt a hard lesson sometime back buying the so called NOS spares.

1) Bought, 1955- NOS- Made in England Champion spark plugs (set of 4) for Rs 375 each. All the plugs fired only for the first 10 kms, later all failed. (this was for the Wolsley)

2) Bought NOS 1970 Harting charging cut-out for the VW Bus, worked fine only for a 100 kms, later that thing won't charge.

White wall tyres are available with MRF, sirjee, i feel you need to check with few stockists from Mumbai. DONT MENTION for a VW Beetle. Just ask the tyrewalla's " Need Tyre for my Ambassador" both are 15 inch.
