Dear BHPians
Through a close friend of mine, i got to know that there is an Ambassador nova ( 1990s model) petrol. We did have an amby mark 4 in 90s, thinking of going for it (yet to see it) without even seeing it as the offer is some where around Rs 30K. Thinking to keep it & get into partial restorations on a later date as it is in good running condition.
I did not get complete picture of Amby Nova though there were couple of posts. Hope it will have similar outlook like Mark IV and not too modified version of later ambys.

Looking for some suggestions & opinions from Amby lovers. I will try to post the pictures by Sunday.

Bought it today. Body not so good , lot of rust on running board, doors etc. But i liked its original looks and always wanted to keep one Amby. Planning for service, oil change, & DIY on Rubbing polish, interior, chrome polishing & Wheel painting etc. Will update as it progress.

Just a hunch..Was this car Kerala registered at any point in its life?

It was TN registered in 1991 & got trfd to KA 09 in 96.

Posting few picture after completing the following:
1. Break drum cleaning, re setting, replacing gear , brake oil
2. Replacing all the covers of Headlight, Parking light, Brake light (Both pt no 1 & 2 Rs 2000)
3. Electrical - Making it all working - Cost Rs 300
4. Seat cover - Rs 2800

Planning to replace tyre (stock) , replace all beedings . Any idea about cost of 5.90 -15 tyre cost (one with the while beeding on it ).

Apparently MRF makes it on special order. Just check with their communications department, not sure though. You could talk to JayD on this forum from Cochin. Hes a master of Ambassadors.

The Ambassador surely deserves to be the first Indian car to be commemorated through a postal stamp by India Post. Good or bad, it has been serving India and Indians since 1958 till 2014 and even later on till date, with whatever population of the car that still remains roadworthy. The critics may say so many things about it, but it surely deserves this honour over any other car.

Hence with such feelings I have posted in change.org for signatures from enthusiasts, to be passed on to India Post and the Ministry of Communication, Govt of India, for further necessary action.
