This appears to be an unmolested Herald, and was truly loved. Such cars are great finds, and you will not get another easily. Now Stanher has an additional responsibility to preserve and maintain this car and do a little fettling to remove non original stuff.
Nice find.

Cheers harit

Dear Shyam - now that's a good Herald you have finally found yourself! I am happy to see it in your capable hands. Please take good care of it forever. Get the doors done up, get the bonnet aligned properly so as to get the classic line when it is closed, get a good paint job done and get rid of all the non-original bits and pieces. Last but not the least - NEVER SELL IT, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. Best of luck.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Thanks wasif & harit.
Yes, you're right- I will not get another one as good so easily (price-wise!), that too not a 1-owner car! Yes, it's indeed my responsibilty to ensure that CAN gets the same love and care if not more that she got all these years!

Thanks ajay. Well, I'm afraid I have no idea about the roof, I hadn't asked the gent then and I will never get a chance to again!

Thank you Sir! Yes, I never ever want to part with it, in fact it was much on my assurance on this that the ex-owner's son agreed to let me have it! The current paint job is good enough so don't want to disturb it, only will have to get the door bottoms painted once patched, will have the new paint on those match the shade on the body so it blends in.

Wow congratulation Shyam, very nice project indeed. First the LD and now a Mk 1 Herald in such good nick. your on a roll buddy I am confident you will take her back to stock.

Is that the original veneer on the dash? Doesnt look it. For a long long time I have been toying with the idea of getting a Herald, but scarcity of parts have always put me off. But now I can always drive yours when i come to hyderabad right?

I am happy for you shyam in this Herald acquasition however my disappointment still prevails in regard to the other car which you intend to acquire, hope that falls in place one day (some how my intution says it will) as Mr Behram sir says never part with this beauty.

I feel we love a particular make but there are very thin chances of getting a original one, feel itself different, tantilising the fun of getting the original machine (99%) is way beyond expression than getting one done up however hard you bring the sky down to earth. Not offending others and with due respect to the hard works people putting into the machines bringing back to life, comendable effort but Original is Original like in the "Maggi" tomato sauce punch line "its different".

Shyam, what a beautiful looking Stanher this is. Wow, now I can understand the excitement that exuded from your voice when you called me on procuring it. Well maintained, and must say now in another set of good hands. The ex-owner's son has done the right thing and am sure his late father would appreciate his move.

Whitewalls, whitewalls, whitewalls..... This car truly deserves them start your search right now.

Hi Shyam, Congratulations for Herald acquisition, I am glad to see one owner car, which is well kept by the owner and now most important thing, it goes to right person.

Wish to see your Herald turns to original condition of that minor things when completed.

All the best and good luck.

Thanks kalyan! The herald in tarnaka you speak of has (or rather had) to be this one!!
That is if you've seen it at a house in St. no. 9, beside St.Ann's School.

I've not seen/heard of any other in that area for that matter!

Hey Shyam bhai you seem to be lucky enough to acquire this original car. Am very happy for you. The car seems to be quite well in shape barring just the doors. A good servicing followed by polishing will make the car head turner. So whats the count of acquisition till now(incl sold off ones) Just curious to know.
