How did you get it for 29K?

It is available @90K in Superbikestore and Ubuy retails it for 70K.

Sebring, by any chance did you buy it from ProBiker? I see the helmet listed there for Rs 29 K. I wasnt able to find Pitstop Pune. Do they do free shipping?

Also, does it have the ISI certification? That is the big question on everyone's mind!

I look forward to your long term feedback on this impressive helmet.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Hello folks,

There's a new kid in the block in the helmet industry called Tiivra, attended their launch event on 4th of September. These helmets use composite fibers and will weigh 1250 gms. These helmets will be manufactured in India.
The helmets come with a race kit, which includes, race inner padding and race spoiler.

Their website

Few pics of the helmets.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

The website and the designs look cheap and cringe-worthy. Hope their tall claims are true. Who knows, maybe the Instagram generation wants these kind of designs.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

That golden base on all helmets looks attrocious, should have had some mixes. Seems like some one in production department ordered too much gold paint and everything was built around that. Should have experimented a bit with matt black base maybe.

The weight looks good though, but then I am not willing to plonk 15K on an unknown entity.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Hi all
I have been using an Axor Rage for over a year now. Very happy with the helmet in general but, riding in the rains recently has made the absence of a pinlock visor felt with constant fogging up. So looking to upgrade to a new helmet. What are some good recommendations with pinlock visor available under 7.5k?

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Unfortunately they're all sold out Neil, as a friend tried to procure them from Pitstop. This was some kind of a test launch and the ISI sticker ones are coming by the year end for sure. Will post a long term feedback. (PM'd you few details)

If you are happy with Axor then Axor Apex offers pinlock and a double D-ring. I have recently picked up two Axors, Axor Apex for highway rides and Axor Striker Hitman for city/short rides. They offer good value for money at Rs. 4994 and Rs. 2996 respectively.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Bought an LS2 Storm helmet for my wife. The primary reason was the lightweight. We were looking for a helmet below 5k as she was not keen on spending above 5k for her helmet. But considering the options in that price range, i didn't want her to purchase just any model and later complaint about neck pain and the helmet ending up laying unused. So on my insistence we finalized this model.
As stated by Neil Jericho in his review of the Storm helmet, the paint finish is top notch. Both the paint and liner quality is comparable to the likes of Scorpion EXO R1 which costs more than 3 times as much. I also think this is one of the lightest helmet in this price range as we compared this model with the SMKs, Axors, NHKs, and Zeus and whatever full face models were available at the shop. The Helmet weighs 1536 gm for size L. I also just learned online that the same model sells as LS2 Assault in USA

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

I am travelling to Europe for sometime in the coming month . I intend on purchasing a new helmet there. I have my eyes on Airoh GP550S. But with the new ISI rules, does it make sense to splurge on such a helmet or would it be prudent to wait for ISI releases from other brands in India.

I am willing to spend upward of 20 to 30k for a premium helmet. Any better alternative for Airoh also will be appreciated.

Thanks

Considering ISI is honorary as in there is no government or testing body that tests helmets before approving their use of an ISI sticker, it is simply up to the manufacturer to state that their helmet adheres to the standards, why not simply slap on an ISI sticker onto your helmet whichever you end up buying?

Do try out the Nolan/X-lite X-803 range of lids in terms of light weight and comfort they are one of the best

I would also like to add to Ishan's point. Bell, Shark, Schuberth are great contenders. If I were to splurge, albeit carefully, I would pick a Shark or Shoei, with the latter being my personal favorite brand. I do own an AIROH GP 500 which I purchased in and around 2015. Extremely light weight, super snug fit, once size larger than your usual size is the way to go.

Good luck.

Cheers!

At the price you have mentioned there may be some good offers on online rather than in shops. Go to a shop select the brands and decide on a size of correct fit.

Then order it online. Sites like "Helmetcity" etc will have good "Sale" options now that riding season in Europe is on its last leg before winter sets in

I am partial to Shoei GT Air

Best Regards & Ride Safe

Is ISI really honorary? Don't the helmet manufacturers have to submit test results and lobby(Indian bureaucracy) to get ISI certification. I mean it is definitely an option to slap on a ISI sticker, but I guess if caught, it's highly illegal as well for faking ISI.

I think it is still an honor based system. Although they have made steps to move away from that and toward mandatory testing and certification, I doubt those steps have been implemented or will be implemented any time soon. I mean this is India we are talking about so I do not think there will be any independent government body spending on a lab and personnel to conduct tests and analyse results any time soon.
