Hi Friends ,

I recently bought myself an Enfield Classic 500 chrome . Spends more time with it than my family

So now I got myself 80 percent of the riding gear ( boots and saddle bags are in pipe ).

Here goes my list

1) Spartan SPG Helios - Jacket - Rs 6799 /-




2) Spartan SPG PHAETON - Gloves - Rs 2099 /-




3) Spartan PERSEUS - Knee Guards - Rs 2575 /-



My present helmet Steelbird Rox - Rs 850 /-

bought it almost six months ago before I got my Enfield . Is the Rox a reliable helmet or should I buy something beyond the 3K bracket ?

Guys its urgent, please reply! A friend is looking to buy a new helmet in the range of 2-2.5k.

He stays in Kandivali. Can you please suggest any reliable riding gear shop around suburbs, or any reliable online stores where he can find good helmets in the given range?

If this is ISI certified it should do for the city rides. I personally would get a DOT / SNELL / SHARP certified helmet for touring use.

At this limited price point, ISI certified vega or studd's helmets would be something your friend can consider.

Excellent jacket and gloves. Wanted both these things in my closet, but unavailability in Delhi made me look for other options.

You should buy MT helmets to go along with these...it is also from the house of SPG. Costs 3800 or so. Steelbird is only good for city.

Guys , could you please tell me the difference between a city helmet and a touring helmet. Do you qualify them on the comfort or the safety aspect, a bit confused here . If the steelbird is as safe as the other high end helmets then I do not want to upgrade . With respect to comfort , Rox being super light I feel really comfortable wearing it.

Does heavier helmet mean they are more safe ?

It is mostly based on safety coupled with the comfort factor. DOT/SNELL certified helmets which are also light are a boon for touring as they dont take a toll on your neck due to constant battering of the wind. They are also designed better to channel air around, less wind noise inside the helmet, scratch free visor (though this can probably be added to any helmet i suppose). Since they are DOT/SNELL certified, you can rest assured about their safety rating and being able to protect you to a good extent.

And no, a heavier helmet does not always mean a safe helmet.

Personally, SOL is more reliable (proved on tracks as well) & would opt nothing less than that. Right now SPG is stocking MT which are very promising for the price. If you can afford, go for it

Chiap Lee, Chong Aik and Regina are top choices

All of them are based around Jalan Besar so can walk to all 3 shops

Looks like Spartan pro gear have discontinued SOL helmets and replaced them with the MT series of helmets. SOL is no longer listed on their website!
