If these photos were taken at private premises without the permission of the car owner, it might be a good idea to ask mods to mask the number of the Dzire. It might not be a pleasant experience for the dealership too if the owner of that vehicle sees these pictures online and blasts the dealership for allowing someone to take these photographs within their premises that reveal his identity.

Accidents in India | Pics & Videos-dust_acci.jpg

Excuse the telugu write up. This seems near Kurnool, Bangalore-Hyderabad highway.

It seems the car is Duster with airbags (based on alloys), or may not, and all passengers dead.

No wonder, Duster got 3 star safety rating in Europe. The news is from eenadu/hyderabad edition (today). so sad..

Could some one who could understand Telugu elaborate more on the details given in the news about the accident please?

Any number of stars cannot compensate for error of judgement on part of either driver. From looks of it i'd speculate Duster rammed in to back of stationary heavy vehicles.

Based on the impact it and photo of the victims it looks like they died more due to internal injuries. Could Seat belts have prevented them from losing their lives? And based on the way the body shell is intact they could have even walked away with only minor injuries.

One of the deceased had a kid 20days ago and 3 friends were on the way to see the kid. Near one of the toll plaza, the duster rear ended the truck and all 3 of them died on the way to the hospital.

From the pics, I could see even the passenger airbag has been deployed.
If you are not wearing seat belt, the airbags would not deploy, right?

I may not be entirely right, but I do see that cabin intrusion is minimal even though the bonnet of the vehicle has taken most impact. Could this be just another case of death due to not buckling up?

The airbag trigger is based on the driver seat belt. If the driver is not wearing seat belt then both the airbags will not deploy. If driver seat belt is ON then both the airbag gets deployed.

Not sure if this differs for other cars. There is also an option to turn off the airbag in Linea/Punto.

I dont see any deployed airbag in the pic. BTW, how can the driver seat folded forward (assuming it was not folded to take the victims out). It seems the seat belts were not used.

Very similar to the XUV accident posted a couple of pages back - on ORR, Hyd. Even in this case, I think there was no under run protection bar on the heavy vehicle with which they collided. The damage as compared to the XUV seems less - maybe they were slower as well. Any further news on cause of death?

Check the 3rd pic of the punto accident, the white cloth(airbag) is out from the dashboard on the passenger side.

Front seats can get damaged when the rear passengers are not belted as well. In fact they can even injure the front seat passengers based on the kind of impact.

I am not sure if this is true, anyway, a lot of people of shut the seat belt warning sign off, strap the belt around the seat and sit on the belt.

Saw this in the local news paper in Meerut today. An Ambulance driver and a cyclist died when the Cruze jumped the divider and rammed into the Ambulance which was ferrying a heart patient from Dehradun to Delhi. The driver of Cruze was reportedly drunk.
