I think you have to balance FE run and reaching Shirdi by evening . I do not know much about Tuljapur, can some one say if there is a temple and which diety, ...

Have loads of fun Avinash.

No way its going to be FE run, if i drive sensibly between 100kmph to top 130kmph with 100% AC, i will get 18kmpl, if i drive even more sensibly there are heavy chance of it crossing the 20kmpl, i am not that greedy for FE at the cost of performance

I am not sure about the diety of Tuljapur, just a dutiful son obeying his mom's request

We traveled with our pal on his Accent , and we reached Shirdi at 4 pm, after leaving Hyd at 530 am,and breaking for lunch at Ahmednagar, followed by a visit to the tank museum. Guess the total travel time was around 9 hours.
But we used the Solapur-Temburni route.

Thanks to BHP, I travelled on both the routes. While going (from secunderabad- 12-7-08) I took the zahirabad-Naldurg- Sholapur- Temburni- Jeur-Karmal-Ahmednagar route. The roads are good, but lots of traffic on this route. On the return journey (14.7.08) I took left turn at Ahmednagar and reached Secunderabad via Kada, Ashti, Jamkhed, Patrudu, Bhoom, joined NH 212 at Wasi, Osmanabad-Tuljapur, joined NH 9 at Naldurg. The return route is shorter by about 20 KMs but the road from Jamkhed to Bhoom is very bad.

Here is another route.
shirdi-ahmadnagar-ashti-jamkhed-patoda-manjarsumba-kej-ambajogai-ahmedpur-udgir-bidar-zahirabad-hydrabad.
this is shortest route.

there are two routes from banglore to shirdi.
r1: bangalore-chitradurga-right turn on nh13 to solapur-solapur-take nh9 toward pune-mohol-tembhurni-right turn to karamala-ahmednagar-rahuri-rahta-shirdi.

r2: bangalore-travel on gq4 toward pune-kolhapur-satara-right turn at satara-vathar station-lonand-nira-moragaon-choufula-patas-daund-ahmednagar-rahuri-rahta-shirdi.

r1 is shorter than r2.
r2 is 4 lane upto satara.
r1 is 2 lane road all from chitradurg to shirdi with lot of truck traffic.
distance on r2 from bangalore to shirdi will 1050 km +/- 10 km.

After Tuljapur, continue on the same road to Osmanabad (20 kms). From Osmanabad, it is around 190 kms via Jamkhed and Ashti.
Naldurg -Tuljapur-Osmanabad-Bhoom-Jamkhed-A'nagar Route is good up to Bhoom not sure after that.

There are two ways you can go to Barshi from Tuljapur

1. Tuljapur-Osmanabad-Barshi(20+35 Kms) road is good

2. There is a direct road from Tuljapur to Barshi (from Tuljapur you need to drive down the ghat to solapur road take first right after ghat) This is single lane road in OK condition, there won't be any traffic except odd biker. Distance to Barshi is around 35 Kms

3. Barshi-Karmala is around 40 Kms road is patchy.

4. Karmala A'nagar is 90 Kms road is good

How about going all the way upto Pune via NH4 from BLR, then Pune -A'nagar-Shirdi?
Road is 4 lane all the way from Bangalore almost upto A'nagar. Distance would be BLR-PNQ app 800Kms, PNQ-A'nagar -90Kms, A'nagar-Shirdi 80Kms == 1000Kms.

bnglr-pune 855 km
pune-nagar 115 km
nagar-shirdi 80 km

bang-pune-nagar-shirdi will 1050 km.
it is good idea to take this route in night only.
during day time, crossing pune city will be problem.
you will spend more time to cross pune city than saving extra time crusing on 4 lane road.
satara-daund-nagar-shirdi will be fine for peace of mind.
