Ernakulam-Thodupuzha is a frequent route. You should be able to get a bus for your onward journey quickly enough.

If you are familiar with Kerala and travelling light you might even want to consider getting off at Aluva and taking a bus from there to Thodupuzha. You might save about 1.5 hours.
I am travelling through KaSRTC. I looked through maps and both Aluva and Ernakulam are same distance from THodupuzha and getting down at Aluva will save me atleast 1 hour. Are there frequent buses from Aluva to Thodupuzha? How about taxis?

I think you should get down at Angamaly and get a Super Fast bus from there to Thodupuzha. The KaSRTC bus will stop infront of the Angamaly Bus Stand.
If you need a taxi, get down at Aluva and book Uber Intercity taxi.

Oh all these are commuter towns of Ernakulam and there are very frequent buses. Just make sure you get into a limited stop fast passenger (private buses of this type sport a maroon livery; KeSRTC buses will mention this in the destination board).

If you opt for a cab, you might not find Ola/Uber type services. Most of us keep numbers of neighbouhood cab drivers handy. Also bus stands and railway stations have taxi stands with pre, union+RTO+TP determined fares to most places.

If you opt for a cab even Angamali would work. Let me know by PM if you want the contact of my neighbourhood taxi driver.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Have a friend's wedding at Manjeri in the coming week and thinking of attending it. Since the wedding is on Sunday and I have an extended weekend coz of Chennai election & Good Friday, am thinking if there's anything to see around.

Inclined to book flight tickets to Kozhikode as its close to Manjeri. Suggestions please.

Oh it's only about 25 km to Manjeri from the airport. You're good that way.

Being from that part I can't see the wood for the trees. Having said that:

* Nilambur for the teak stuff (museum etc.)
* Cheruthuruthi, Pattambi, Kuttipuram etc. for a serene evening on the shores of Nila
* Ponnani for Nila's estuary
* Malampuzha dam & park
* Temple circuit - Kadampuzha, Thirunavaya, Thirumandhamkunnu going all the way to Guruvayur
* Kerala Kalamandalam
* Kadalundy bird sanctuary
* Mosque circuit - Mampuram, Ponnani, Mishkal...
* Calicut city - food trail, Kappad etc.
* Silent Valley
* Waterfalls - Thusharagiri, Kozhippara
* Beaches - loads of them

(Water-based things might be best left out because of the dry season)

One thing that occurs to me - if it is not too late check for direct buses to Thodupuzha or at least to Muvattupuzha (all Kottayam buses go via Muvattupuzha I'd say). You will save a lot more time this way.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

I am planning to travel Bangalore > Alleppey > Bangalore with family on 18-Apr. Since this is election day in KA and TN, would I be encountering any issues enroute? I mean any blockages at the border?

Also, I guess highway restaurants would be open even though it's election day?

We are planning to start from Bangalore @ 5:30 AM.

How do you plan to vote, then? Or is it that you have vote elsewhere where polling is not on 18/4?

Which is the best route to reach Munnar from Thiruvalla?

And with recommendations on-route for Vegan food joints and clean loo?

Thanks in advance.

You can use the MC Road from Thiruvalla to Muvattupuzha and then reach Munnar via Kothamangalam, Neriyamangalam and Adimali.
MC road is now in very good condition.

Rather than going to Muvatupuzha. Isn't it better to go to Thodupuzha from Thiruvalla?

Both the roads are good. You may choose either road. But the Vengaloor to Oonukal road is twisty and narrow.

Dont mind the turns. Guessing Tiruvalla to Thodupuzha is shorter?
Google maps shows that as the shortest. But somehow these days, i just cant seem to trust them,

So just the Vengaloor to Oonukal stretch is twisty?

You will be using the Pala Thodupuzha state highway, its an excellent road. Although its curvy, you can travel at good speeds. There are multiple speed cameras on this route. You can avoid entering Thodupuzha town and proceed straight to Vengaloor.
