re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

I am driving down to Yercaud from Trichur, and would like some info on the road condition from Salem to Yercaud (hill sector) and also the 32 km loop road there. This is my 1st trip to Yercaud.

Thanks in advance.

Salem to Yercaud has 20 hair pin bends of which the last 3 are slightly more steep compared to the rest but very much doable.

Loop road was in good condition when I visited last year, it is mostly road through plantation and doesn't have any steep gradient. So I do not think it will be damaged much due to rains.

You can see the route details of loop road and a video of the same here.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

Guys, so I am driving to Yercaud this Saturday for a 1-day stay and was just wondering if I can do the google maps route (via Danishpet) or should I stick to the Salem route. I did see that someone mentioning in March this year that the Danishpet road is quite motorable now. Please confirm if anyone had done that route recently.

More than road conditions, I think what you need to consider is the lack of facilities on this route, especially if traveling with family and children. Otherwise it could be a good option to explore (and maybe take the regular route via Salem for your return).

I am not driving with family, just 4 guys so I thing it would be worth it to take that route on my Tiago. I read that there is some flyover work going on in Salem, has it finished?

Not sure about conditions via Danishpet route but if you are looking for some twisties then try the kuppanur route. Given that you are driving a hatch this might be a safer bet.

I traveled about 3 months ago and work was still in progress, I don't think it has completed as yet.
However, if you avoid during peak hours of morning and evening (usually 8am-11am and 4:30-8pm), it is quite manageable.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

Hi All - looking to visit yercaud this weekend. I will be travelling from Hosur. The google maps suggests the NH and then Danishpet and then Yercaud. Any other suggestions? Also any other suggestions for a day trip from Hosur? Yercaud is my only option now.

Not sure if I could avoid the evening rush back, so how is the Kuppanur route?

guess everyone is going to Yercaud.

3 Options

1. Google maps route via Danishpet - As per this post (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post4170617) is quite motorable but not recommended for people with family due to lack of facilities.

2. Via Salem - There may be a flyover construction going on which might cause some delays. Avoid at these peak hours of morning and evening (usually 8am-11am and 4:30pm-8pm) times as shared above by @NPV.

3. Via kuppanur - Not much information I gathered but will take this route once, either while going there or coming back.

Enjoy Maadi.

If you are planning Hogenakkal, then try driving anchetty - denkaikotai route.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

So went this weekend to Yercaud. Went there Via kuppanur and the route was good except few patches but very much doable in a hatch easily. I did have to pay Rs.30 toll to use Kuppanur-Yercaud road.
While coming back went through Salem, there was half build flyover there with no work going on when I went there. As there was less traffic so didn't face many issues but in a good amount of traffic, I can see traffic jams as the road has become quite narrow in many places.

I did ask about the Danishpet route going back and was told by the resort guys that it was motorable and has no issues.
