I will try and keep this thread updated on a regular basis - as and when I receive any updates/news items.
A friend of mine just drove back to Bombay two days ago using the Amboli Ghat and did not have any issues.
However, the rain has been pretty heavy in the last 24 hours so will just have to wait and watch.

I haven't seen Goa in the rains for many years, and have planned a 4 day visit to do just that from August 1. Now I hope it rains there, while keeping Amboli usable. We humans can be very demanding of how nature should perform:-).

Latest news on the Chorla route, anyone? I am planning to drive from Goa to Mumbai this Saturday (July 29) and am unsure of what route to take - via Amboli or Chorla? So it would be great if anyone could post recent experience of the road conditions on either route.

I am driving to Goa on the 1st, and have no reason to deviate from my usual Amboli route for a Candolim destination.

Chorla ought to be open though, if the rains have slackened off as they have here.

Amboli route is fine, except for the usual post rain broken surface in places, especially between Ajra Amboli.

Reached Goa yesterday and as usual took the Belgaum Chorla route. The Chorla route is absolutely fine without any issues. Belgaum is a bit congested due to road work going on at some places, but nothing to be worried about.

Did a Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai solo drive last week via the Amboli route. There are broken patches around Ajra but comparing with the road condition experienced 2 years back, the roads have not deteriorated so much during the current monsoon season.
What worried me more was some of the potholes on NH48 around Satara; big craters in the middle of the right lane which can cause damage. Luckily the roads were dry and the craters wet and the color difference made it easy to spot and avoid most of them. Just had to be extra alert.

Just back from Goa and as noted, except for Ajra - Amboli, the road is in decent shape.
Goa seems to have suspended the Rs 250 entry tax.

I have a feeling they are in the process of denotifying the highways for 500 mtrs rule. Maybe that is the cause.

Did Mumbai- Goa trip last week. As the destination was Varca, took the Mumbai- Belagavi -Khanapur-Mollem-Varca route. Butter smooth roads all along. Traffic in Belagavi was a little more. Return was via Amboli-Ajra. The road is broken a little bit but drivable. But thoughtfully enjoyed Amboli ghats.
