Re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

Hey petrolheads,

I am planning to drive down from Hyderabad to Gurgaon around mid January. We'll be 4 adults and 2 small kids for this trip in the AWD sedan. Here is my proposed plan:

Day - 1:
7:00 AM: Start from Hyderabad via Nehru ORR
9:30 AM: 30 minutes stop over to enjoy home cooked breakfast preferably around a decent fuel station (or a dhaba). Really looking for recommendations here.
2:30 PM: 45 minutes stop over for lunch (will be carrying home cooked meal). I think we will be around Jamb bus station at this time (https://goo.gl/maps/TH4jUJCpmzkzzkdV7)
6:00 PM: Check-in at Sillari, Pench for night stay (https://g.page/OliveResortSillari?share)

Day - 2:
9:00 AM: Start from Sillari Gate using the elevated corridor towards Seoni after heavy breakfast
2:00 AM: 45 minutes stop over for lunch between Narsinghpur and Sagar
7:00 PM: Check-in at Orchha for night stay. This place has some nice options to stay in cottages next to Betwa river.

Day - 3:
11:00 AM: Start from Orchha after a relaxed and late breakfast. Hopefully might go sight seeing to Betwa river bank early in the morning as the kids have never seen a river up-close
3:00 PM: 45 minutes stop over for lunch before Agra on a road side dhaba
9:30 PM: Reach Gurgaon (through Yamuna expressway as there is some road block/under maintenance just before Palwal

PS: We plan to take 5-10 mins stretch/bio/snack break after approximately every 2-3 hours.

Looking for generous dose of expert advises in general and especially about the below points:
1. I am concerned about diversions around Pench-Seoni stretch considering my stay option lies exactly in between this stretch of the highway
2. Recommendation for hygienic stop overs for lunch on the above mentioned 3 stretches
3. Love to have suggestions about good fuel stations to take care of my ride's 65 liter appetite on the way
4. I have a digital tire inflator. Is it advisable to remove the spare wheel and make space for some more luggage? (Yes, it is intrudes quite a bit into the boot space)
5. Suggestion to make the plan more comfortable or pitfalls in my proposed plan.

I am already dreaming about the trip in broad daylight

Hey,
did you undertake your trip in Jan? Which route did you take finally and how was it? If you could especially let me know how the nagpur - seoni - narsinghpur stretch was, it will be a great help .Thank you.

There is no more road blocks/broken roads on the route, just a few diversions into single lane at some places. It is still a very smooth ride as the traffic on this route is less.

So take this route without any worries.

I took this route to and fro. As on 7th Feb there are 5-6 road diversions, where traffic from both sides moves on the same side. But overall it's super smooth and if you are travelling during daytime there is nothing to worry.

If you have any other questions please do let me know. Have a safe journey.

Did you travel to Hyderabad from Delhi and followed the same plan? Any suggestions of good hotels for night stay.

My drive is Honda Civic 2019.

Hey, if you're planning for a 1 stop, I would suggest Sagar homestay at sagar. Nice clean place with secured parking for your car in a villa. You'll have the entire place to yourself and access to kitchen too.
Contact Anthony (owner) directly or book it on MMT.
Anthony - 9414071112.

About the 1 stop strategy, I did hyd-sagar 900 km and then sagar-delhi 700km approx a couple of years ago.
Have fun!

Thank you so much. Did you take the yamuna expressway, or the agra-sohna highway via palwal? Those road closures you mentioned near palwal still seem to be there.

I took the Yamuna expressway as maps showed it as closed for repairs and I was also worried about farmer's protest in that area.

My drive is Honda Civic 2019.
We took 2 halts en route from Delhi to Hyderabad, first being at:
1. Orchha (off the NH44 from Jhansi) - It's a splendid town with the Betwa river flowing through it. The hotel was VFM, hygienic and had good food. Most of the hotels here have good parking lots as well. Rather we were pondering if could have stayed here for full day and enjoyed the local sight seeing. We stayed at Orchha Palace Hotel & Convention center. My kids especially loved the swings and trampoline park here. Here are two quick videos that we manage to click on the way to catch NH44:

2. We took break for lunch at Jalsa garden and resort https://goo.gl/maps/QbvwYje1xB8efGsY9. Next we took a halt at Olive Resort, Sillari gate, Pench
https://g.page/OliveResortSillari?share . We got a 2 room villa. The place is barely 300m from NH44, ample parking space and decent food. At night we could hear the animal howls. This way we could avoid Nagpur city and stay on the highway or the bypass all the time.

We had 2 kids with us hence we decided to take 2 halts as appose to a single one at Sagar, but now I think this way we could enjoy the journey and the night stays a lot more. Both these places had slow 4G/internet speed via Airtel. At orchha the hotel provided free internet which was decent in speed (~2 Mbps)

GPS shows road towards Palwal as closed which is NOT true. My friend drove through that route and there was nothing wrong.

I heard that in order to drive on Yamuna expressway you need to download highway saathy (something like that) app. Did you?

Re: Hyderabad to Delhi : Route Queries

For folks coming to Gurgram, West / South Delhi via Sohna route, you can take Western Peripheral Expressway at Bahrola, before Palwal and get down at Sohna Exit. It is faster and more convenient.

P.S.: There are many diversions on Sohna - Gurugram section due to the ongoing work of Delhi-Vadodara Expressway.

What an amazing find! Have been doing this route for almost 6+ years now and we never heard about this town from anyone. Will definitely be stopping here on our next journey. Thank you for sharing.
