On 8th I have to go to Bijapur from Pune. Is Indapur _Pandharpur then the better option compared to via karad or via Phaltan now that the road is complete till Indapur. Is Indapur Tembhurni still a bad patch?

Go via indapur mohol mandrup bijapur.
Mangalvedha - chadchan road is in really bad condition, so no point in going via pandharpur.

Indapur - ujani dam road is 4 laned,
Ujani dam - tembhurni is under 4 laning.

The route via Sangli Miraj to Bijapur seems the best bet as there is GQ till Peth naka (after Karad) for first 165 km or so. The distance too is shorter this way. Will give feedback after returning - I am somewhat averse to go on Sholapur road and even on my way back will not join Sholapur road till I reach Kedgaon near Pune.

Re: Update on NH9 between Pune and Solapur

I need to travel from Bangalore to Sholapur and from Sholapur to Aurangabad by road. Can any one please advice on the best route and the current condition of roads? Any suggestions on "places to stay" enroute?

The shortest is Bangalore-Chitradurga-Hospet-Bijapur-Sholapur.

Bypassing Hospet is a bit of pain. Hospet-Bijapur 4-lane is almost completed.

The other option I would say is :

Bangalore-Hubli-Bagalkot-Bijapur-Sholapur. Its good roads all the way. As per last I knew NH218 makes a good drive. Its about 60-70km in length.

Check this post from Condor for the most precise update. No major changes on this route since then.My reccomendation would be to stick to the same C'durga-Hospet-Bijapur-Solapur.

From Solapur, you could drive on the NH9 till Temburni, right turn towards Karmala-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad or else take the Beed route to Aurangabad.

If its a fast drive to Aurangabad, then i would suggest that you take the NH4 all the way to Pune and then connect to the Pune-Nagar road and then onwards to Aurangabad(dont go by the few extra kms that this route would take,it would be compensated by better facilities and lesser time).Fatigue would be less via this route and wayside facilities are also excellent. If you leave Bangalore early, you can make it to Aurangabad same day, else you can stay the night at Pune and leave for Aurangabd next day.

Re: Update on NH9 between Pune and Solapur

Friends,

I am thinking of traveling from pune to pandharpur tomorrow. I have a couple of questions.
1. Is indapur-themburni still a bad patch? I am hoping to make it to pandharpur within 4-5 hours through NH9. I hope this is not too optimistic.
2. Can you please suggest suitable pit stops enroute with decent facilities, i have couple of senior citizens with me.

Thanks

Re: Update on NH9 between Pune and Solapur

Guys,

I have to travel to Fratelli Vineyards near Malshiraj/Motewadi off Sholapur (NH9) highway. Google maps showing multiple routes. I have shortlisted following two:

1) Pune -> NH9 (all the way) -> Bhigwan -> Indapur -> Malinagar -> Motewadi.

2) Pune -> Jejuri -> Baramati -> Malshiras -> Motewadi

Route #1 is about 187kms while #2 is 166kms. I am leaning towards second route. Can someone comment on present condition of this route and traffic?

Thanks in advance.

I suggest, take route no 1.

Route 1
Pune - indapur all 4 lane, onward 2lane.

Route 2
Pune - jejuri 4 laning going on,
Jejuri - baramati good 2lane road,
Baramati - malshiras average 2 lane road.

Re: Update on NH9 between Pune and Solapur

Latest NH9 update:

Traveled Pune Solapur on Aug 11th. Started around 12 noon from Chandani Chowk.
Hadapsar : 1:00 pm (Had to drop my grandfather in Sadashiv Peth hence the extra time)
Indapur : 2:45 pm
The road is 4 laned after Hadapsar and it is in excellent condition. Can easily maintain speeds of 100kmph average.
After Indapur the story changes. The 4 laned highway continues for a while but with lot of diversions. The worst stretch is Temburni. The road is full of craters and potholes. The max speed in this stretch is 20kmph. Your car's shock absorber are put through extreme torture tests.
I believe the Temburni stretch will be like this for quiet sometime since there is no 4 laning work in progress, however I saw a board which said "Proposed diversion for Temburni bypass" . God knows when they will complete road which bypasses temburni.

After temburni again there is 4 lane road but with lot of diversions in between. The work is in progress hence the max speed you can have at this stretch is around 70 kmph. There are two more toll naka built in this stretch but they are not collecting tolls as of now.
The road stretch after Mohol is 6 laned for about 10 kms. Not sure why only this stretch has 6 lanes.

For entering solapur look for a small exit before flyover. Go under the flyover and take right and you will see the bus stand.
Reached solapur at 4:45 pm

Total journey 260 kms in 4.75 hours with one bio break.

Total toll paid :
Rs. 20 + Rs 35 + Rs 60 = Rs 115

Re: Update on NH9 between Pune and Solapur

Hi!
Am travelling from Mumbai to Chadchan on Saturday, October 19, 2013. After checking the posts here I am worried about my route.

From Mumbai to Pune and onto Indapur sounds fine. My concerns are beyond Indapur.

Option 1- Indapur -- Akluj -- Pandharpur -- Mangalwedha -- Chadchan (The last stretch is supposed to be very bad)

Option 2 - Indapur - Mohol - Mandrup - Chadchan (Round about way)

Please advise on which option is shorter in terms of time. Distance is not a major consideration. Dzire Vdi

Also, please advise on a place to stay in Pandharpur/ or any place as close to Chadchan as possible.

This is a trip especially for wedding shopping, so need to stay in Chadchan for at least six hours.

Am travelling with my 8 month old son, so may need to take small breaks.

I hope to start at 5:00 AM from Mumbai, reach Pune by 7:00AM, Hadapsar by 8:00 AM and Indapur by 10:00 AM. Is this too ambitious? And how long will it take to reach Chadchan after that?

Thanks!

PS: If Team-bhp was not around, i don't think i would have ever attempted a trip of this nature. Thanks again.
