Hope thats not a trend that will extend to other AMCs. I have found MFU to be a great one stop solution for investing in Direct funds, at least for most AMCs.
This is scary. What happens to the existing SIP with these separated AMCs.

Re: The Mutual Funds Thread

I was told the folio will be delinked from MFU, which is expected.

I don't have an SIP on this case but guessing the SIP should stop and one would have to restart it through some other source.

Re: The Mutual Funds Thread

Guys any idea what's up with HDFC Balance Fund ?

The value (NAV as on date) hasn't changed since 1 June 2018. All the websites and apps which has my portfolio uploaded is showing fund value as on 1 June so I am guessing the problem is with the fund. Any idea?

Even on the HDFC website it is showing the same.

DSP and Blackrock parted ways!
Is this something to worry about?

There is never a bad time to start an SIP. The cost averaging concept of SIPs take care of any price fluctuations over time. Just give it time to grow and you shall be happy when you compare the returns after say, 7 years or so.

Don't worry, just select good funds and start investing.

Saket

+1 to Saket77. The idea of SIP is to average the cost of as investment through ups and downs of the market. So, anytime is a right time to start an SIP. Just keep the investment for a long time horizon of 5 years or more.

Re: The Mutual Funds Thread

Hey guys,
Want to invest around 75k monthly for about 2 to 2.5 years for construction of home. I'm not in a position to take risk of loosing money on this amount.
Taking this into consideration, can you suggest me on where to invest this monthly amount.

Thanks very much.

For 2-2.5 years you would be better off with debt funds. Equity for this duration is risky. You can choose 2-3 top rated Short term debt funds and invest into them.

You can consider investing a part in FDs as well. Interest rates have been increased in last month or so. Last I checked, Kotak bank was offering 7.2% on 390 days FD

If you cannot take risk and want the amount in a short term of 2 years, best option is to invest in a good liquid fund.

You could also invest in other instruments like recurring deposits or FDs, but the advantage of liquid fund is that irrespective of the duration you stay invested, their annualized returns will be the same (not considering income tax). With FDs, depending on the lock-in period, the interest amount will vary, and if you withdraw before maturity, they may reduce the interest rate.
