Saw that on the Facebook news feed shared by a friend. Portugal has Ronaldo was additionally mentioned.

I want Netherlands to win this time.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

What is worse, Brazil has to get on to the field once more for the humiliating ritual of finding who is third best. Hope they leave the Neymar masks in the team bus.
By the way, what's with ze Germans and Portugal? First they steamroll that team 4-0, then this 7-1 to the portuguese-speaking Brazilians

Germany looked bad against Algeria. So, it boils down to who plays better on the big day.

Indeed, the fantastic first round buzz had come down with breaks in between matches and the teams playing for last minute goals. Now, goals are back in form. It was said during yesterday's commentary that this is the second highest scoring world cup after France'98. And many of the best counter strikes in world cups.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

Guys, it is always who plays better on that given day.

Rooting for Argentina. As ever. I usually keep tweeting and sharing comments with friends on Whatsapp throughout most matches but it will all be off today. Today I just watch. Hopefully it is a good match.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

The link below was my prediction created on June 27th. So far it seems to have worked except for the qtr final lineup which was predicted as BRA vs URU instead of BRA vs COL. Hope this will hold good till the end

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

I just realized that I had switched support to Argentina now, as Brazil simply wasn't the Brazil I once knew. So Messi and gang it is for me.
But it looks very scary seeing the way Germany is playing.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

I guess the defeat of Brazil should not surprise the viewers who saw their match against Chile. Now with Neymar and Silva's absence, this (7-1) was bound to happen, otherwise it would have been 3-0 or 4-1.
Similarly in the last World Cup Argentina was at the receiving end against Germany with the scoreline of 0-4. So if they reach the finals this time, whether they have improved or not will be seen but the Germans would definitely have an psychological edge against them. At the same time, the feeling of 'revenge' can do wonders for Argentina.
I personally want Netherlands to win this time and they look like the only team which can beat Germans.
At the same time I would be equally happy if Germans or Argentina win.
My support is 33.34% for Netherlands, 33.33% for Germany and 33.33% for Argentina.
Now coming to Germans and their weakness, I feel they are also vulnerable with their defense and Brazil also went to their goal 'at will' in the second half and failed to score mainly due to German goalkeeper's efforts. Even the commentator mentioned this point during the match. Also, in the last WC after defeating Argentina by 4-0, the Germans lost the very next match against Spain 1-0, so the theory 'who plays better on the day wins' is proved time and again.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

Keeping my fingers crossed tonight. Romero is a clueless keeper. Di Maria's swift movements along the wing will be missed. And hoping Higuain continues from where he left last match. Messi alone can do little against the Dutch wall.

The Netherlands are also a favourite for me but not ahead of Argentina in my heart. But my head says that Argentina spoils out on big matches from most previous world cups.

Either way, it will be an all favorite finals for me, personally. Let us await if Messi has something special in store tonight.

The match is due to start in 1 hour and I too am inclined towards Argentina.Honestly I voted for Brazil in the poll but it was devastating to watch them yesterday.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

Now, I don't care who goes through, as I bet Germany is safe to lift the cup if ARG and NED are playing like this. Germany plays as a team, a team of super stars.

Till the first half, ARG felt a bit better then Ned on their attacks through the right wing, but the strikers need to position themselves better. I guess both teams want to meet for a penalty shoot out. Messi is too lazy, stands where he is after making a pass; compare this to the Germans who position themselves for receiving the next pass. But definitely, ARG has improved after each game.

Re: The Football World Cup 2014 Thread

The second semifinals between Argentina and Netherlands is really boring. Looking at the way both the teams play, it is easy for Germany to win the title.
