You mean Sudama BAR. Not a place you can visit with your family. But yes the food served over there is good and has to be as you know how people can get after a drink or two

Tried few takeouts over last 3 weeks :
1. Hotel Vaishnavi : Location Opp. HP petrol pump in Bavdhan
Ordered Pav Bhaji for 6 people. The quantity was huge and the taste was very good. It was spicey. Since the quantity was huge did not completely finish same day so ate it next day as well. The Bhaji was more tasty next day.
They also have very good breakfast items.

2. Andy's : In Aditya Shagun mall
Ordered pad thai and thai red curry. I am huge fan of thai food. Both were very authentic and delicious.
The only problem is you have to order separate rice for the curry.
Generally in other place you get rice along with red curry.
The delivery time was approximate 1 hour

3. Happy Singh da kitchen :
Order Amritsari butter chicken and roti.
Didn't like it too much. Nothing bad just average.

4. Kerala curry leaves : Maharaja complex Kothrud depot
Ordered Chicken Chettinad and one more chicken curry which is coconut gravy based (cant remember the name)

Both were nice spicy. Taste was good. Will visit again here to try different dishes on menu.

I'm just hoping that the stuff can be kept authentic- just like their North Main Road branch.


Most aspects in the new branch are replicated from the original branch, which is to be expected.

I dont know if you have visited the KP branch after it re-opened. Even at KP its no more the old stuff. The ambience, the menu, that feel everything has changed. Its no more that around the corner outlet, it now more of snazzy resto that is banking on the old fame and name.

Oh how much i miss the old German Bakery, i miss my sunny -side up and mash potatoes with ice-tea.

The Dosa- and the Pav Bhaji's (Oh goodness! ) are as lovely as ever!

Specially the pav bhaji. It's just umm......Too good!

Planning to try out Dorabjee's shortly. For the mean Dhansak.

Over the last few months, I have been on a Pune legacy eatery trail
Here is what I have tried so far in order of preference, would love suggestions of what else to try next

- Dorabjees: 4.5/5- Brilliant is the only word I have, The Dhansak , Daal Gosht and Farcha are outright winners!

- King's (East Street): 4/5- Visited them during their Parsee food festival during Navroz , the Farcha was just about OK but everything else was yum!

- Chinese Room: 3/5 : Hit & Miss affair, The noodles were good and so were the starter but the chicken based entree had soggy chicken that had a texture like tofu..

- George 2/5 - Very Generic gravies and Biryani, definitely not worth the hype

- Blue Nile 2/5: Same as above

- Cafe GoodLuck - Ordered butter chicken, might as well have asked for Blase chicken .. Again, not worth the hype

On a side note, I am yet to find a single place in Pune that does justice to authentic North Indian Mughlai cuisine with the exception of Paasha , any other recommendations?

I found it gross. Nevermind.



Neways, ambience is typically old timeish. Feels as if you're in the mid Fifties, I'm told.

The food- is superb.

Mughals oopposite Kayani Bakery is a good one. You can give it a try. Seating is limited.

Mughals was started by the Chefs from Bahgban's (as far as I recall), so you may also add Baghban (just across the road) to the list.

What would you define as Mughlai cuisine?
My benchmark is the Old Delhi eating joints like Karim and AlJawahar, and few nihari and seekh kabab outlets nearby.

Nothing like those (taste-wise) I have seen in the entire India except perhaps in Lucknow and (even more perhaps) old city of Hyderabad.
