I was thinking the same. Now he's got a whole lot of bakras he's going to turn over into the Cult of DIY. I can literally see him rubbing his hands in glee and sighing like a lover at the same time, at the thought.

I'd have asked for a pair (2 pairs, actually heh, heh for a Home Audio setup) if I had a way to get them from Mumbai, but no go there :(

i have a pair of kenwood tweeters lying about. They have an inline cap.

Since these are full range drivers I can actually remove my 6X9 coaxials and build the enclosure for these.

There shouldn't be a need for a crossover then, i guess. The tweeters and these can be connected to the 2 channel amp.

How about the enclosure specs for these?

cool....I am in Delhi but would love to pick it from you. I just installed a 4 channel amp in my car (Lancer) and connected 2 channel to feed one woofer.

So I could use a pair for mid range. Thanks. -Rishi

The Plan is to refurbish and rebuild an Old pair of 3 way tower speakers, now ravaged by Time... Each Speaker had one 8 inch woofer , One 6.25 inch mid range and one tweeter, with a tuned bass port....

Now rebuilding the cabinet with additional braces and modifying the same to mount new drivers..have already sourced Woofer and midrange from vifa ( aka peerless v line ) , search is on for a good quality matching silk dome tweeter , need to build a matching xover ( a 4th order linkwitz - riley ) , and rewire the entire speaker with high grade cables.. going pretty slow and still WIP

Hi Sam.

Just went through some pages from this thread. I dont know if I qualify for this. But right now I have a Big 12" sub in my tiny Alto which I have to constantly remove to accomodate things & am hence planning to do away with it & get some thing smaller which can:

1) either replace my current sub & be fitted on my tray

OR

2) remove both sub & current speakers(pio ovals) & put a driver like the one you have with matching tweeters(I think that would be needed). I can then fire these along with fronts with my existing 4 channel amp

So lemme know if I qualify

And if I do then we'll go for beer at say Cafe Mondegar or Leopolds whenever we meet in Mumbai

These midbass drivers in a sealed box would complete my sonic requirements methinks!!
Sam, Im re-posting my message from page 7 of this thread since the offer is still on (standby). Oh and if I am one of the lukcy ones, Bombay pickup possible

I am not quoting all of B&T's post here but if that man was near me when he posted this I'd have kissed him!

ok...

a) This is NOT a car woofer! In most car doors you wont get much bass in needs a box. In fact given the specs above this is not a BOOM-TIZZ driver. However it can make some tuneful sounds mated to a decent tweeter.

b) The Fs is higher than I'd like but that is made up for the rather small Vas and lovely BL and Sens numbers. The highish BL was sorta expected when I read the lowish Xmax. This is a speaker that would do well if you are playing Miles Davis and co or even EC but not 2pac or 50 cent.

now to find a tweeter....

do we have any guess on how many tweeters we will needs (pairs)? 10? 20? how many of you are looking at making a 2way speaker for your home? (Please see poll).

I was wondering all the while? If these speakers are 6.5" woofers designed to work in home audio setups, then how good it is going to sound in a car?
Thanks Navin, B&T. Now I am sure these ones are not going to suit for in car use.

@all those who plan to keep these in car. My advice is to read NavinJi's last post with all the eyes open. These drivers were designed and made for home audio. So, choose wisely.

For Car Audio, There's always JBL! But Sam doesn't give it for free.

And regarding the kissing of B&T. Yes! Ask me for a first hand experience!

f the offer is still on, I would like to have them as well.
I am in the process of upgrading my audio (details in another thread).
I was planning to encash some stocks for the woofer and 2nd amp combo.

Thanks to the budget(Chidambaram), and the resultant stock crash I am literally bankrupt.

My dream of having a sub is over; unless I can have the woofers in my Swift.
