ya that should be ok only you need an amp to drive them. I dont think a PC based sound card can drive them. just keep them away from CRT screens. LCDs are not affected by magnetic fields.

i did check for sealed it said .1 cubic feet volume, nice flat curves
resonance 35Hz
I think this will give a good responce down till 20Hz??? Will it ??

where did you checked the size for .1 cuft....

and the 6.5 inch drive could not produce that type of freq...or we can say it can but the output will be very less...

this is ths site
Speaker Box Calculations
for sealed design it said .1 cubic feet, box freq resonance of 79hz and 3db point less than 78hz
nice site with design graphs and all, Ok what would be the least freq. with this driver in .1 cubic feet Qtc =.707

Sam's speaker ported or sealed

Yellow= most linear 1 driver sealed enclosure, 2.9litres @ 3Db 80Hz
Green= most linear 1 driver ported enclosure, 5litres @ 3Db 50Hz
by the way if u make it 10 litres 3Db come around 41Hz

I think home audio application will be better with ported design...wat say ?

Sorry LBM the calculation in previous post was for 2 driver in a box

amit in the above respone curve the -3db point is at 50 hz and at little below 40 hz it is -9db it means that the driver will maintain good response above 50 below that it fails but it does not matter much as this is a full range driver capable to be a good vocal or small shelf speaker.....dont expect it to go LOW....

Amit this is right. I think the ported box might be the best option here atleat one will get bass to 50Hz. This stems from the fact that the Vas is very small and the Fs rather high. the problems I am seeing is that in a vented/ported box the port length is rather long even for a port dia of 2". Even with a EBS alignment (Extended bass shelf) the port length does not fall below 12" for a 2" dia port in a 10 liter box. Hence I'd rather stick to a sealed box of about 0.2 cu. ft. (5-6 ltiers). This might give a F3 of about 80Hz but F6 is at 50Hz and if the box is placed on against a wall the boundry reinforcement should even things out. The other option is to use a rather small port (1" dia or 3cm dia) in a 0.24cu. ft. (7 liter) box. a 1" port need only be 9cm in length while a 3cm dia port will need to be a bit longer (say 13-14cm) in length. This will give you a F3 of about 45Hz and a F6 of about 40Hz with little overhang and some bass chuffing. To reduce the chuffing fire the vent down (if the speaker will be placed against the wall) or rearwards if the speaker will be 6" or so from the rear wall.

Now considering that the woofer is 7" dia and you are gonna add a tweeter you iwll need a box that has a baffle of about 12" x 8". a 5 or 7 liter box with that size baffle will need be only 4-4.5" deep internally. One can easily hang this box on a wall and get 30-35Hz in room albetit with a little boominess.

Meanwhile I am trying to negotiate a group buy for 10 pairs of tweeters. Expect to pay about Rs. 2.5-3K for a decent 1" metal dome unit. Anyone interested?
