And, CSK managed to pull a big one tonight. A 10 wicket victory. Sweet. It’ll do them a world of good I hope.

Exactly what everyone talked about when they returned in 2018 and average team age was 31+ . They won that edition to everyone's surprise & even last year they were finalists. So I wouldn't really give much importance to age

But yeah they are surely missing Raina's service real bad. Was great to see Watson getting back his touch and it was a real thumping victory. But they still need to get their batting combination working before it's too late. Not everyday can Faf or Watson click, others need to step in for the occasion.

P.S: This IPL is turning out to be interesting as there's good competition among the teams & even delhi and Bangalore are doing great. In this boring era of WFH (thanks to covid) something to enjoy while having dinner

This is the first time that I actually suspect something fishy in the result. It is inexplicable how Chennai batted and lost this.

Reminded me of how Mongia & Prabhakar batted a few years ago to lose a game, for which they were allegedly paid.

There is evidently something fishy. Not just with CSK but also with RR. Look at the last three dismissals of Steve Smith and Sanju Samson in particular. They have the same pattern and very unlike both of them, especially Smith.
In today's match Kedar was so calm and insincere even when they needed some 37 runs of 12 balls. He seems to be a product of favouritism in a team. Does not bowl, average fielder and over rated finisher. Why is bravo not been sent up the order? Sometimes team's decisions surprise me more than disappointing me. Last whole decade people are wanting and speaking aloud to let Pollard bat up in the order however MI still seem to make him play at the near end of the innings. So many such decisions, so meaningless.

That Mongia and Prabhakar match was as legendary as it got. I also did not ever quite understand how Prabhakar got to open the innings when more specialised opening batsmen were there !!

Coming to IPL, the matches always look suspect. More so in the last few years, please remember that when Srinivasan was the chairman and Gurunath was one of the owners of CSK, more often than not matches looked fishy. It was another matter that Gurunath was also involved in betting. The circumstances around IPL are too convenient not to doubt the matches. Sad part is, cricket is getting all the bad name.

Yes. Prabhakar retired, Mongia continued. Later Mongia was joined by Agarkar who played 200 ODI matches without even knowing whether he's in playing eleven for the next game. Such a sad state of affair in CSK now. I'm a big fan of Dhoni but I've to agree that he alongwith Jadhav are burden for the team. Raina is a match winner any given day and he's a big loss not only to CSK but even for Indian team.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

There are bad days in sport and I don't think any spostsperson has managed to avoid one. In case of MSD and Jadhav too there have been bad days before. Heck Tewatia was having a bad day for the first 20 balls against Punjab some days back. But all of there were bad execution days.

CSK chase in the latter half was a bad intent day, and that is what I find most surprising. I did not see Kedar try hard enough. I know it is easy for armchair critics like me to comment, but something did not feel right.

Really? this was the first time.

If you watch IPL regularly, you will find many instances in all 3 dimensions of cricket ( Batting, Bowling, fielding) that something ain't right.

If you remember the match, Kedar Jadhav called for bat change in 18th over and ate up 5 crucial balls and scored just 2 runs and kept Jadega off strike.

Agree with this.

I had stopped watching IPL, even following it couple of years back, but this year is different, I watch few over as stress buster, as I have no where to go.

Have you been watching too much of 'Inside Edge'? Coincidently I watched it in the last few days and that bat change of Kedar triggered me as well. The web series shows a lot of such 'signals' one if which coincidently was the batsman changing his bat and then getting out.

Watch the IPL like any other entertainment source rather than getting emotional about a particular team or player. However, most of us are crazy cricket lovers and to keep emotions aside is a very difficult ask.

We are reading too much in to this.
I'd attribute all the shenanigans to the Hanlon's Razon

What the actual hell is going on? Dhoni didn't play well for a match and his 5 year old daughter gets rape threats!

Quote:
In a disturbing incident, while hundreds trolled Dhoni, some tweets and Facebook posts threatening Dhoni's five-year-old daughter also surfaced. And not just any threat, these were threats of rape and physical violence.

I agree with Sehwag's assessment of CSK players.

https://circleofcricket.com/category...irender-sehwag

Quote:
While criticizing, Sehwag said CSK players are treating the franchise as a government job.
“It should have been chased down. But the dot balls played by Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja didn’t help. And, in my view, some of the Chennai Super Kings batsmen think of CSK as a government job, whether you perform or not, they know they’ll get their salary anyway,” he told Cricbuzz.

Wondering how low such morons can stoop to. I hope there is a way to track down these scumbags and take action.
