I had two Seiko 5 one after the other for more than 15 years and the watch was always on, bath, swim, party all. Then I got the Tissot PR 100, same usage. Now I have a Rolex GMT-II, same usage same toughness. None of them leaked water.

As long as the watch is rated 100m (or even 50m) diving depth, you need not worry. Yes you have to make sure that at least in Tissot, Rolex and Omega the winding knob is fully screwed in. It has an o-ring to keep the water out.

Maybe this is a silly question - but is there a simple digital watch (like Timex NA33 Ironman) which actually work for dives?

The issue is:
- I dive twice a year and swim quite regularly.
My decathlon cheapo water resist HRM watch went totally bonkers (alarm on nonstop, cycling screens as if mode button was constantly pressed) after a dive to just 12m depth. So much for what decathlon claimed (some 50m afaik).

But I'm not interested in really spending on the watch (got many other avenues) - just want something robust I can swim regularly with, and take to my twice-a-year dives.

Try the Casio G shock range. Has a very wide range of watches suiting various budgets and I'm sure it'll serve your purpose well..

No wonder it broke, because unfortunately if it says 50m, doesn't mean you can take it to actually 50m depth!

Have a look at the table at the bottom of this Wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Resistant_mark

Ot his one:
http://www.prestigetime.com/page.php?waterresistance

For diving it needs to state at least 200m, even if you only go down to 12m. Stupid system, I know, but there you are!

Haha. Holy cow - sorry that I didn't even google it up before posting.

I had exactly the symptoms described therein. It worked perfectly during the dive and just went bazooka on surfacing.

The watch meeting this criteria is: http://www.amazon.in/Casio-Edifice-A...f=sr_1_fkmr0_1 but I guess I will pass at the price

I'm better off hiring a $10 dive computer this time till friends return from USA in November!
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...=dive+computer has proper dive computers that cost under 15k. Would make a good new year gift for the wife, or maybe an early birthday present

Thanks Tjax as well.

Search Diving Forums. You will get link to inexpensive digital watches that are used by divers. The plus side is that they all have large dial with chunky luminous hands and hour dots.

I still have my HMT Janata which I used in School but it needs to be restored. Needs a new dial, glass and strap and need to be serviced. Any idea where I can get this done?

I'll post photos of all my watches when I get home but here's my list:
1. HMT Janata - From my school days.
2. Casio Telememo 30 - Bought it when I was a cadet on my first visit to Singapore. Needs restoration.
3. Timex Indiglo - A cheap watch that I used as a work watch on board the ship.
4. Tissot Quartz - Can't remember the model but it is a simple white dial and black strap.
5. Tissot PR50 automatic
6. Timex Expedition
7. HMT Automatic - Don't remember the model but bought it recently from the HMT Website.
8. Omega Speedmaster - The watch I always dreamed of.
9. Tommy Hilfiger - No model mentioned on it.
10. Casio G-Shock

I also have my Grandfather's Rolex and Omega from the 1920's. One is for me and one is for my brother. Both need a service and minor restoration.

Next on the list for me to buy are:
- Titan Ducati
- TAG Carera

re: Which watch do you own?

Bought this in Shanghai. Accidentally my hand hit a wall and the screw binding got cut, didn't want to get rid of this watch hence replaced the chain with a belt
