Fair price too.

There were other watches too, notably an old Zenith. Special Edition for the Turkish Railway. With the Railway Insignia and Steam Train on the case back. Silver Case. But the asking price was a bit on the high side and I preferred the Omega because I am an Omega aficionado.
Congratulations!

I was very close to buying an Omega pocket watch as well a few months ago. Beautifully maintained and reasonably priced as well. Somehow I haven't warmed up to pocket watches yet. Probably soon.

Can we have a pic please?

Rolex Submariner is my favourite out of all the ones I have.
Gives me a Steve Mcqueen-y vibe

I'm looking to buy a mechanical HMT watch. Anyone know any retail store I can go check it out in Mumbai? Thanks in advance!

re: Which watch do you own?

We have spend a few weeks in the Netherlands and the UK visiting family and friends for Christmas and the New Year.

One of the things I did with my two boys was to shop for watches. When I say boys, they are really young men, respectively 28 (Thomas) and 30 (Luc) years.

It's always so nice if your kids share some of your own interests and hobbies. Thomas asked us for a new watch for Christmas. So we had a picture of a watch all wrapped up under the Christmas trees for him and I took him to Rotterdam to look for a real one. Better he come and chose for himself. He likes watches but his choices are always very modest. Which is great as this one was his Christmas present from my wife and me. We went to about 7-8 different stores, but came back to the very first one. He really like it and I think it's pretty neat. It's a Fossil.

Our eldest son Luc is very different matter all together. He is very knowledgable when it comes to watches, he has developed quite a bit of taste for some of the very nice brands and very important to us parents, he pays for them himself. Still he likes his dad to come along.

Last year he bought his very first luxury watch, what else, a Rolex:

In all honesty, I'm not that big on Rolex, although this one is pretty neat.

This time, he was on the lookout for something a bit more special, a Tudor Black Bay with red bezel on a leather strap. Just about every two bit jeweller will stock Rolexes, but Tudor is a very different matter. You will have to look hard.

We finally found a well known jeweller Schaap & Citroen.

http://www.schaapcitroen.nl/horloges

They stock a large number of watches and have shops in all major Dutch towns. In Amsterdam alone they have four stores, all within walking distance. They were the only store we could find that had this particularly watch in stock. So we drove over to Amsterdam, looked at some 7-8 other stores as well on our way and ended up in their 'watch city" where they keep quite a eclectic collection of watches including a large range of Tudor.

Luc liked it very much, so did I. In fact it only cost half as much as his Rolex but I liked it much more. It's really very beautiful and a love those rough leather straps. I might get a similar strap for my Omega Dark Side of the Moon too.

We had a long chat with the guy helping us. He was very knowledgable and a walking horologist encyclopaedia. Learned a lot from him. He was from Chinese descent and he spoke several Chinese dialects. He told us that about 85% of their clientele these days are Chinese from mainland China! These watches are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. But apparently, plenty of Chinese have the financial means to buy these watches these day. Especially if you are from outside the EC, you can get them (VAT) tax free and I have yet to find watches anywhere else in the world cheaper then tax free in the Netherlands.

Anyway, nice to be out with my boys on such a shopping mission!

Absolutely enjoyable. These Pilots are really lovely. Ive got the Black Dial one.
It was my first watch ever, bought in 1981. But that one broke and foolishly I lost it. So I replaced it last year with the new wave of HMT's.

If you want only an automatic (not a Diver), then check out these 2 good looking and VFM watches from Seiko:
