So I'm on the lookout for another sports watch, 3K budget, preferably with a metal band, that will last long. Should be reliable and rugged.

Any suggestions ?
Well look here...

Casio: G-Shock - CLASSIC – GIEZ – LIMITED – MASTER OF G – MTG

Nothing beats a Casio gshock. After owning lots of Titans, Timex, Fastrack, Omega etc., I now own a G-g-Shock Mudman for sports and for regular wear a Protrek-1300. Both are wonderful.

Ok, I am getting a little tired of this watch. It is useless in dark, which really bothers me. All my previous watches could be used in complete darkness.

Does the Casio G-shock series have back light function?

Yes, all the G's have a backlit function, right from the DW-5600C to the latest ones...

Not only backlit, they call it Auto E. L. (i.e. Auto Electro Luminescence); just turn your wrist to read the time and the light will glow (yes, automatically).

My triple sensor Protrek goes a step further it has Full Auto E.L. i.e it senses the surrounding light and if its enough then E.L. wont glow thus saving battery. Not that there is problem with battery discharge, what with the Tough Solar technology, it utilizes any surrounding light to charge itself. And also Protrek 1300 and :-).

Will post some pics of my watches tomorrow.

I now just dream to own a GPS watch with may be 3G video calling.

My father gifted me a Titan Exacta when I won a scholarship in tenth standard.
It still works after two decades and tells time with dignity!

There are two more on my collection. A Casio Sabean and a black Citizen Eco Drive.
I went through quite some pain to get matched a sleek black metal chain for the black citizen.
(I fancy metal anytime to leather).

But the first watch will always remain the most cherished.

Thanks for the suggestion. I visited the showroom and finally purchased a timex , primarily because of the looks :

Amazon.com: Timex Men's T56371 Ironman Triathlon 42 Lap Combo Analog Digital Dress Watch: Timex: Watches

The MRP was 4295/- and with a 20% discount it came to around 3436/-. Bought it from a Timex showroom on Garuda Mall. The good thing about this watch is that it's an ana-digi combo.

The G-shock was not really looking good on me when I wore it.

3 more added to the collection last week.

L > R: Tommy Hilfiger, Titan Raga Diva, Titan Octane (fell in love with the colour of the dial of the last one - spur-of-the-moment buy).
