Pic for attention only!
The market is finally correcting and more models are getting available at the AD’s. However, steel models, specially the really popular ones are still not being handed out without a so called purchase history.

The price for the pepsi has decreased slightly in the grey market but still way more than the msrp. You could look at the batman, they aren’t going for that high and a slightly pre-owned piece can be acquired for a decent price. Another option, if you’re open for precious metal, would be the two tone rootbeer. Very decently priced in the grey market and a full set can be acquired for a similar price to the msrp.

Posting mine from the collection-

Re: Which watch do you own?

Ethos has started selling Tudor on their website, if you're OK with online for this price range, it's a good option. There are only 3 cities for brick and mortar stores in India. They seem to have popular models available.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Has anyone here tried selling a (kind of) luxury watch in India?

I may be looking to buy a new watch but will only do so if I sell one from my collection. For now, seems like the Stowa gets the least wrist time and is fairly new (2021) so may fetch a better price.

How do I go about this?

How I wish, not there in life yet!
Though I have given away my non collectible watches (Timex, Nautica, Swatch) within my family.

Join the Facebook India watch buyers group. Lots of sales happen there from what I remember. Have been a dormant and inactive member for quite some time on this group.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I started my collection of watches after receiving the RADO as a gift for my wedding.

Rado Centrix: I was thinking it had a sapphire crystal glass will be scratch proof. But after 1 year of usage I had a scratch on it and limited its use to only on special occasions.

After 1 year of usage of Rado I was looking for a less pricy one and bought the Casio series of watches.

Casio MTP 1302- It was an impulsive purchase as soon as I saw it during a usual window shopping at mall during my family outing. It was <4k INR and served me well for 3 years and its running in its 2nd battery now.

After the above 2 watches my interest on watches started to grow and started to read a lot about watches. The release of G-SHOCK 1102 was announced and I wanted something to go well with T-Shirt and Jeans.

The G-SHOCK is with me for the last 2+ years, the transparent material have started to turn yellow. So might go for a full metal mod with Silver bracelet.

Seiko Automatic: This was my father's 7 years old automatic watch sitting idle with strap being damaged and with mechanical issue. Handed it over to Zimson and took a 2 month wait time to service this for around 4k. Using it occasionally once a week to work for the last 3 years no issue so far. This watch motivated me to go with an automatic watch for the future.

Casio MTP-VC01D-3E: I always felt green dial watches looks more premium, during my visit to Turkey after COVID found this in IST Airport Casio Showroom and bought this immediately. Price was USD 60.

I was mainly using it for my business meeting and decided to stitch a dark green suit to match the watch dial.

Unfortunately I am seeing the hour needle slightly misaligned last week and have to check with Casio if this can be serviced.

I was seeing random pages of Instagram which sell 90s watches and was curious about hand winding watches.
Picked the blue dial hand winding Citizen watch for 4k from a Insta business page, it was not what I expected. Not using it much.
Decided to be careful next time to buy a watch seeing it in photos only.

CASIO G-Shock G339 GA-110GB-1ADR: Gifted by my wife for my last birthday, I don't prefer bulky watches, but still use this occasionally.

I was eagerly looking to buy one of the Seiko SKX5, Citizen TSUYOSA or Tissot PRX.

Had my BIL coming from the US last year Jan and found the Citizen TSUYOSA at a good price for USD 216 including taxes. Only black dial was there and decided to replace the MTP 1302 with Citizen. Been using it for the last 1 year as a daily watch to work.

Tissot PRX: I gifted my wife the PRX Quartz Blue one and she saw a similar watch available for male as well and gifted me the PRX. There is a small shade difference between male and female watch. But since I decided to use it as a pair watch only I felt its better to go with Quartz.

Apple Watch series 7: Use it to count calories and steps for my morning walk.

Q&Q: It was purchased last month during my trip to Tokyo BIC Camera shop in Ginza. They have a whole floor to watches and my father purchased a Seiko as well at an attractive price. Lot of choices on straps and models available.

KNOT: I was searching for interesting places to buy watches and found this place in Tokyo, here there are different model of dials, straps and clips. You are free to customise this and they will assemble this for you. I purchase the KNOT silver moonface watch with her name engraved in the back of the watch. It felt very nice and unique to me to select and make our own watch. I tried different combinations and my wife selected one.

Might buy one during my next visit as felt I already bought a lot of watches for the last couple of years.

Looking to add an Omega Speedmaster in the coming years.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I started my collection about 15 years back and slowly stepped up into a few luxury brands as well. I have a mix of designer, mechanical, quartz and solar/eco-drive watches in my collection.

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_061530645.jpg
These are my mechanical/automatic collection barring the one Tissot Sport Chrono XL.
-> Tissot Sport PRS 516 Powermatic 80 Day-Date
-> Seven Friday Skeletal Automatic with a Miyota movement and a square case
-> Favre Leuba Raider Harpoon Automatic with a circular seconds hand and only the hour hand with minute indication on the dial circumference
-> Tissot Couturier Automatic Chronograph with the Powermatic 80 movement
-> Tissot Seastar 2000 Automatic with a Teal Blue dial
-> Avi-8 Hawker Hurricane Clowes Automatic with a Miyota movement
-> Seiko Prospex Day Date with a 4R3X series movement
-> Seiko 5 Sports Black Grape GMT SKX Re-Interpretation with a 4R34 movement and an Office GMT function
-> Longines Spirit which is a COSC certified Chronometer with a 72 hour power reserve
-> Baume et Mercier which is a classic dress watch with a 5 day power reserve and a Baumatic movement
-> Seiko Midnight Mockingbird Presage Cocktail with Time Power Indicator with the 4R57 movement
-> Tissot Sport Chrono XL

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_061609328.mp.jpg
-> A fossil which I acquired many years ago with a quartz movement and a see through window for the machinery
-> Swatch Big Bold Irony - Went to check out the Moonswatch but ended up picking this one being a fan of bigger dials.
-> Victorinox FieldForce Sport Chrono
-> Mondaine Cushion Chronograph with an interchangeable mesh metal strap and a square case
-> Victorinox Alliance Sport Chrono
-> Roamer Rockshell Mark III Chronograph

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_061651094.mp.jpg
-> Diesel Chronograph with a huge dial
-> Skeleton Automatics from Keneth Cole, Fossil and Timex
-> Avi-8 Mustang Automatic with a crown guard (Maybe inspired by Panerai)

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062155445.mp.jpg
-> Google Pixel Watch v1
-> Casio G-Shock Master of G - Air Gravitymaster GR-B200-1A
-> Casio G-Shock GA900C Heavy Duty series
-> G-Shock Casioak series

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062453752.jpg
-> Seiko Prospex Seascape SUMO Solar GMT Diver - Lovely green dial on this one and this is a solar watch with Travellers GMT function

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062501990.jpg
-> Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Land series

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062530360.jpg
-> Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Altichron ABC Watch

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062541059.jpg
-> Casio G-Shock Master of G - Mudmaster GWG-1000
-> Seiko Prospex One Hundredth of a Second Limited Edition Speedtimer

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062702397.jpg
-> Seiko Prospex Arnie Series

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062719729.jpg
-> Seiko Promaster Altichron Land Series

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_062726845.mp.jpg
-> Citizen Eco-Drive Perpetual Calendar

Which watch do you own?-pxl_20240525_104500298.jpg
-> Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Blue Angels Skyhawk series

All my solar/eco-drive watches are kept in the transparent containers or hanged using hooks on the IKEA pegboards with a pendant lamp above and a table lamp below so that these charge even if I am in my study in the evening.

Have a few priciest ones as of now and always wait for good deals before picking up these watches or tax free acquisitions from abroad.

My wishlist for the coming years would be to get a True GMT with a mechanical movement like the Longines Spirit Zulu, a Panerai Luminor with its patented crown guard and an Oris Big Crown Propilot having 10 day power reserve.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I am eyeing a Tag Heuer watch from the Formula 1 collection.

The generally price range on Ethos website is between 1.8 and 2.2 lacs.

Quick questions:
1. Is a watch from this collection a good buy?
2. In general, how much is the price negotiable with Ethos from what is shown on the website?
3. Is it better to buy from duty free at Bangalore airport? How much savings would that bring as compared to Ethos?

Thanks!

I like the design of this Gshock its the perfect analogue alternative to the GShock 5600. The dial has a diver feel to it!

Would suggest checking with Helios also since you're based in Bangalore. The outlet on 100ft road, Indiranagar used to keep Tag Heuer and offered a better price than Ethos. They offered 14% off on an AquaRacer

A lot depends on the sticker price of the watch. The price depends on the MRP of a particular piece, and discounts depend on that. If they have a piece at older and lesser MRP, then that will be positioned as a 'discount' compared to the same item with the latest MRP
