In the User Control Panel, it will be useful to have a link to posts thanked by me.

I use the "Thanks" button to save posts that I might find useful later. But to find a particular post next time, I have to first find some other post I made, click on my name and select "View Public Profile" and then click on "Posts thanked by <me>", which is a bit cumbersome. Also, there is no option to search through posts thanked by me. So, if we can have a direct link to Posts Thanked By Me and an option in Advanced Search to select posts thanked by me, it will help me find specific posts saved for reference.

Alternatively, there can be a separate "Save Post" option to save useful posts that we might need to refer later (similar to reddit.com). Currently, "Thanks" button is not provided in threads under "Switching Gears", so a Save option can fill that gap too.

I wish to know that is there a way to find out a list of posts that have received the maximum no. of thanks on the entire forum across all threads.
We must have such "Hall of Fame" list of such posts.

Actually, it would be good to know when a post has been thanked. Other forums I belong to have, for instance, drop-down "alerts" lists. A poster can get thanked for something they posted years ago: it is sad not to know.

Or... am I missing something really obvious? Wouldn't be the first time ;)

EDIT... OK, I am, because I didn't know about the profile thanks listings. It's good to know, but would still be nice to know about new thanks

EDIT2... and it is ordered by post date, so there is not knowing about older posts.

I guess a lot of BHPians have requested for the same. I believe Rehaan is working on something on these lines and is trying to figure out whether or not such a feature can be added / enabled.

Quoting some old posts from this thread for reference:

Similar to facebook, when someone thanked you, if a small pop-up window opened to notify the member, it would be quite awesome.

Brilliant suggestion! Everyone loves that little red notification on Facebook. It makes you feel relevant / loved / part of the action. I like this. Lets see how possible it is.

I guessed that too :)

IndiaMike has a nice notifications dropdown

The underlying forum software is the same, but I would guess that this is a bespoke extension

Seeing this alert pop up intermittently on the forums page. Why is "askmebazaar.com" wanting to know my location on the Team-BHP website ? :Shockked:

Thanks for reporting. DBHPian Tejas did too.

I am 99% sure that it is from your ISP (similar to how MTNL has started running ads on their subscriber's browsers).

I suggest we should have proper tags for topics, vehicles, manufacturers, members, etc.
And anyone who is to post something about any topic, vehicle, manufacturer, etc should have the option to use this tag. It is because first, posts about the same vehicle or topic get divided across threads, and second, it often happens that some very relevant information posted in a small obsolete thread goes unnoticed, where the same in a more active thread would have started some genuine discussion.

For example, let's take the TUV300. There are two active threads going on about it at the same time. One is the original discussion thread, another is Captain Rex's ownership thread. The discussion thread is obviously much larger and older than the ownership thread, which is just about 4 pages long by now. Naturally the discussion thread also has many more active people. So what happens is that the posts often get divided due to separate threads. I mean, if someone were to post something in Captain Rex's thread that is also relevant in the much bigger and more active discussion thread, it cannot be viewed there. Also I don't think reposting the same content across threads is an option, as it only physically increases post count, without adding separate value.
Now, if there was a tag by the name 'Mahindra TUV300' under which one can see all the posts having that tag across threads, it will make the information more accessible, and the reading experience richer. The tag view should ideally be different from our normal thread view with clear mention of which thread every post comes from. The reply to a particular post should obviously added only to the original thread it belongs to, but the same could be viewed in the tag view as well. Clicking on the link of a post in the tag view should redirect to where it belongs in its original thread. The tags in a particular post should be visible for every post in the regular thread view as well. This tag view should be separate from the usual thread view, and I think could make a real addition to the information consuming experience.

I have come to know from a lot of people around that they no longer like to read reviews as they are pretty "useless" for the reason that they contain a hell lot of detail. Instead, what they do is go watch some video reviews as they get done in a short time with more information. If it isn't too much to ask for, may i suggest compiling video reviews (where mod/ mods talk through the features/ driving impressions whilst TDing) for each car that's reviewed so, that this population can make merry and benefit from the high reviewing standards that have been set here?

Video reviews are preferred by window shoppers mostly. Even I would watch a car like Trailblazers review on ytube and go through some interesting bits from the tbhp review. But when I was looking for a car, me and even my brother went through many official reviews a couple of times and ownership reviews as well.

This suggestion takes inspiration from newly launched twitter poll feature. In twitter poll:
1. There is a time limit of 24 hours
2. If you have not cast your vote, results of those who have voted cannot be seen

More important than the time limit is the second feature, that one cannot see the preference of those who voted already until (s)he votes. I think if implemented in Team Bhp, it will encourage independent voting without bias or bandwagon effect. Of course, once the poll is closed, results should be open for everyone to see.

I feel the Garage section can be more compact showing most of the infos as closely as possible. made two mockups. Pls see if these can be executed successfully. Its my personal visualization.

Admin & Mods, no 'Thanks' button in this thread.

With co-riders posting ride photos and reports, I think it would be suitable if a 'Thanks' button were to be introduced so that one line replies can be avoided.

A fellow bhpian on the thread has expressed his wishes for the same as well. Do work over it. Thanks!

Neither thanks, nor post count on Shifting gears threads:

Suggestion 1: Poll for priority of official reviews
When manufacturers target multiple car launches over short duration to target the festive season, how about running a poll for 2 weeks to determine which ones are prioritized for the official review? This would ensure that what reviews the members are more interested in will be prioritized.

From July 2015 till date we have had 8 reviews (Jazz, S-Cross, Creta, Aspire, Kwid, Chevy Trailblazer, TUV3OO and the Figo) - busy times indeed for the reviewers!

Suggestion 2: Merge Launch and Official Review Threads
Often, the lifespan of a vehicle thread following this pattern:
  1. Rumours/spottings thread -> Converted into Launch thread
  2. Official review thread
In cases where the official review thread comes out a significant amount of time after the actual launch of the product, what ends up happening is that a lot of valuable discussion occurs in the launch thread, and that gets abruptly cut off when the launch thread is closed because the official review has been put up.

If there is a way of moving some of the posts from the launch thread into the official review, that will be a useful reference to new buyers who come in and open up the official review thread some months down the line.

Alternatively, immediately upon launch, you can close the rumours/spottings thread, put in a placeholder 'Official Review' thread, and let the product discussions run there.

Taking 2 recent examples: On the other hand, the Ford EcoSport's review back in 2013 was something that came out well in advance, and served as an 'anchor' for all discussions of the car. All previous threads on the EcoSport were based on rumours, spottings, or pre-production demo cars shown in malls.

Table of Contents for Official Reviews

How about putting in a TOC for the posts that comprise the official review? The individual posts here are lengthy, so jumping to a specific point (particularly on mobile devices) is not as easy as it could be.

Again, picking on the most recent review as an example, here's how the table of contents could be listed in the first post.

The 2015 Ford Figo has been launched in India at a price of between Rs. 4.30 - 7.41 lakhs (ex-Delhi).
