I am a car nut and a car movies nut. This thread on T-BHP was what started me off on this. It has resulted in the list of movies I collected over the past couple of years. They may not be the best of list but I have tried to cover a lot of years and tried to group them by theme. Attached is a PDF list I am chasing.
Movies List.pdf

Also additional trivia posted on my blog: Top Car Chase & Race Movies (with free pdf) | Zimbly Cars

@SirAlec - I have to disagree with your comment. I am not just linking to my blog and other websites for the heck of it. I did so because i felt it made sense to do so and since there was a relevant post there concerned with this thread that I had taken a lot of trouble and time to put together.

I had uploaded a file to this forum with my previous post containing a list of movies as well - of course you may not have taken the time to open it and see it. The list is too large to paste into a forum post in plain text/html. I hope you understand.

DUEL is indeed one of the best 'car' movies ever. no doubting that. i also love the car chase in Ronin.

If you like Duel you you may like Joyride where a trucker is chasing a car(1971 Chrysler Newport) because the guys in the car tried to play a prank on the trucker. Ending is a bit gruesome though. Paul Walker of Fast & Furious fame is in the movie and acts well.

My favorite ones are,

1. Cars - A hot-shot race-car named Lightning McQueen gets waylaid in Radiator Springs, where he finds the true meaning of friendship and family.

2. Days of Thunder - Cole Trickle enters the high-pressure world of Nascar racing. He's a hot driver with a hot temper, and this attitude gets him into trouble.

3. Streets of Legend - A romance blooms between Quattro and Noza, two kids caught up in the illegal street car racing scene of Southern California.

4. Fast and Furious - An undercover cop infiltrates an underworld subculture of Los Angeles street racers looking to bust a hijacking ring, and soon begins to question his loyalties when his new street racing friends become the prime suspects.

PS:
In F&F (2001), Vin Diesel was driving was and RX-7, too bad the movie showed the engine with Camshafts and Pistons (the race scene), those have rotary engines and it's not possible for it to have pistons.

Vanishing Point by a huge huge margin. The most epic car movie ever made.

A few months ago they showed the MadMax trilogy on cable.
Brought back many memories of college and also reminded me that 1 and 2 are on top of my list of petrolhead movies...(the one with tina turner was a drag)

Here are the ones that I think I loved!

1) Gone is 60 seconds hands down the best movie ever
2) Fast and the furious series of movies
3) Cars the animation movie. I have seen this I think about 50 times but I still love it. I even got a DVD to show it to my kid when I have one

Recently got my hands on the Madmax Trilogy on VCD and ended up buying it. Watched the first two and felt the first was was really good while the second one really didnt have too much of the driving aspect or even the chase as such. I would recommend the first one over the second Mad Max.
