let me just add a different flavor to this discussion. India has a high volume of pests and little management for the same.

If we start doing pest management at the same scale as western countries, you might good insect free food but get a high rate of cancer and other diseases (genetic/congenital deformities, kids with all kinds of syndromes), actually more than that because we poorly manage our waste and it will directly go into our water supply.

between cancer and insects, I would prefer to eat the insect, or throw it out, if I happen to notice it. I am pretty sure any cancer patient wil eat insects if it cures him/her.

same goes with genetically modified and chemically grown food. Tomotoes may look perfectly round, red and ripe but we never know what they do to us. I love to get desi imperfect food items here in US when I can.

Most of the times when me & my family eat in these type of food joints, me & wifey will feel burning sensation in our stomach in the midnight.
But when we eat North indian or south indian food in any other hotels we do not have these problems.
So my wife has started preparing pizzas & burgers in home & after eating these, we do not face any health problems.

Lol! The only thing missing in that argument is a Bear Grylls imitation voice going on about how insects have the highest protein content of all foods

Exactly ! That was what I heard earlier posted, being Hygiene concious in a place serving junk food is like an oxymoron !

But we cant avoid, so better restrict these type of foods to a limited scale. More importantly we all should try to inculcate the habit to limit these type of food in our children ! Early diabetes and hypertension in kids are a common sight these days !

The days I go to the food court in my campus, the KFC/Dominos allure me strongly that I resist big time by turning away from those places and end up having rotis ! So its just a matter of will power ! I know i sound a saint here, but I think we all ought to think in a similar fashion sometime or the other.

@Nikhil- Just the kind of statement I expected from you, and being a minor foodie like you, I too follow a similar policy. If the food goes well with my stomach, I go there again; if it doesn't I'll try after a long time and if it doesn't suit again, I never go again.

I eat a lot from roadside stalls (called "Thattukada" in Kerala) and I'm pretty immune to most stuff. If I do find something, I bring it to the notice of the management and take if off the bill.

Got a call from ccd today( I left my name & mobile no after my incident in ccd) inviting for a free coffee. Told them I lost my faith on them and will not be visiting them in future. But thanked for the call .

This happened with KFC. When KFc opened many years ago, I used to have a major stomach upset EVERY TIME I ate from there. I stopped eating KFC thinking that the oil they used didnt gel with me. Then, I got massively tempted with the burgers and started eating it again. Never had a problem

Seriously, I dont think too much about stuff like this unless I fall sick and thankfully, that has been very rare.

We are Indians. We eat roadside chaats, drink roadside cane juice, tea, coffe, etc... I think we have an immune system far superior to those from other countries.
I live with a somewhat similar philosophy if it wont get you sick then its edible
Unless its downright disgusting such as dead cockroaches, gum, nail, another person's hair.
But im very sensitive to weird tasting foods or weird smelling food.

In the fast food corners i found Mc Donalds to be the most Hygienic.
Their service is clean compared to KFC and is consistent(it always tastes exactly the same) where as KFC chicken tastes vary from time to time.

Found feathers in KFC wings and Blood stains in the Bone

Visited KFC in Frazer town today, ordered Wings and Fiery Grilled and while we started having we first found Blood stains in the Bone and later Found Feathers in KFC Wings

Called the representative and asked him what is it, he calmly replied it's feathers(Another ), asked him to call the manager and when I showed him the Feathers and blood stains he replied Sir we check everything before delivering it and I don't know how this has happened, I shall replace the Chicken Wings for you, I immediately picked up my cam, took some pictures and left the place.

Anyone here who can advice what action needs to be taken against KFC ? and how do I contact them to bring this issue to their notice ? Tried their Website but could not find any e mail id !

So much for the quality control enforced by KFC and their franchisees in India. Why don't you try reporting through the feedback forms on their site.

Recently a McDonalds outlet near Ramaiah Hospital was pulled-up and shut down for a day for serving non-vegetarian food to a vegetarian family.

McDonald?s food joint goofs up on vegetarian order, slapped fine - Times Of India

Even though this is a different case altogether, you could try calling the BBMP control room and register a complaint.
