I for once do not want Australia to lose and India to qualify for semfinal cos they just dont bloody deserve it.
Look at the performances- pathetic.
Yesterday rain saved India again as 300 was on the cards and we know how good the chase would had been in front of oz bowling and fielding.
People who had taken indian team for granted should be kicked out asap.

Any amount of cheering wont work - Pakis will be very glad to loose their match tomorrow.Who knows, whole of Pakistan might well be cheering for Australia tomorrow.

I vaguely remember a similar situation in the inaugural Asian test championship.Wasim Akram didnt come to bowl ,nor did he use his frontline bowlers, until Srilanka reached a certain score in their second innings so that they could pip India to the finals.Once Srilanka reached it,he himself bowled and also brought in his frontline bowlers to wrap the match.

India out

Well the Ozzies won on the last ball. Superb display by the Pakistani bowlers.

Our team might as well lose to the Windies to keep up the clean slate and travel back home

Wow. That must be one of the most egotistic articles I have read in a while.

Well, his statements are all in response to the interviewer's so didn't really get that impression. Anyway, that's subjective.

Any idea who the keeper is in that photo in the article? Saleem Yousuf?

Lads,

How about a thread on Test Cricket ( and first class cricket) for the purists? What do you think?

Regards

Noticed a caption that comes up when I moved my mouse over the photo that says that match was at Sharjah on 1 Jan 1987.

So out of idle curiosity I tried to look up that match.

Neither Shastri nor Saleem Yousuf were playing a Test or ODI on that date, leave alone at Sharjah. Was surprised - Cricinfo is usually fairly accurate in these things.

Yes, maybe I will. It was probably the Dec. 1986 tournament.

Thanks but not really impressive - had just gone through those two players' ODI lists looking for a Jan 87 Sharjah match and noticed there was a Sharjah tournament the previous month.

This thread seems a good place to get an answer to something I read recently. Recently read in Cricinfo that Graham Manou who made his debut in the recent Ashes is the fifth keeper to play for Australia since Healy came on the scene in 1988. Three of the other four are Healy, Gilchrist and Haddin. But who is the remaining guy?

Have spent a fair bit of time trying to remember and will probably spend some more wading through old scorecards unless one of you comes up with the name!
