Yes. This break must have been a good one for regrouping and reworking strategies. If the openers come good, then we can see dravid, tendulkar and laxman proving their mettle. I still don't think this english bowling attack is as lethal as we made it to be. The sehwag effect will only tell.

It sure tells, ain't it ? See how gambhir is playing now. Also I never said anything about sehwag's effect with the BAT.

Humko Bachane wala hi bach ke nikal gaya

Gambhir is attacking but for how long ? The middle order has to score, they have to score all their runs in this innings only !

Re: The Cricket Thread

Back to old days, India already reeling under the English attack. They are 155 runs for 7 wickets.

The "God" again fell cheaply, guess his days are coming to an end.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Finally Dhoni realised that he isn't a classical batsman, just a slogger. The results are already starting to show !

I think we are now surely heading towards getting white washed - the batting isn't clicking and that's hurting the team a lot !

Re: The Cricket Thread

Couple of questions (I know the die-hard India fans will not like this):
1. Why is it always a difficult pitch for Indian batsmen to bat on when on the same pitch the other team (this time England) can score merrily and our bowling is toothless (and conversely why is it that when we bowl, the pitch is not good for bowlers)?

2. Before this test started there was so much talk about India bouncing back with Viru's return and what happens ? He gets out first ball for a duck !

And now looking at the situation with England on 456/3, the writing is on the wall and we're mostly headed for a 3-0 margin (3/3 for England!) unless some great batting in second innings saves us from defeat

Re: The Cricket Thread

I can't see India holding out for a draw even if England chooses to go on and on to break Sri Lanka's 952-6d record (also against India).

Re: The Cricket Thread

This has got to be one of the worst test series for India in recent times.....also I guess its time for the cricket administration in our country to wake up and reduce the number of tours/games...its getting a bit too much and I am sure the players are feeling it as well. They need a break like everyone else. Every game has a season, but the BCCI has decided that they need to mint money more than look after the players...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Lets be fair and give england the credit.
They are a better team in this seriesin all dept. and so deserve the no.1 place.

This test is lost by all means and only rain can try to save it. By the look of things 4-0 is a possibility. Worst performance by indian team in years!!

I guess the same applies when overseas teams visit India & struggle on our turning pitches while our Indian batsman make runs by the truckloads on the same pitch!
Getting back to the match, was watching Sunil Gavaskar giving his views on a news channel this morning. According to him, some players are giving an attitude that they have done a huge favour to the country by winning the World Cup and that is the reason they are listless & disinterested in this series.

You know something is seriously wrong with the team when world record holder Rahul Dravid drops 2 straightforward catches & his reaction after the drop says it all ! Seems like we are going to go down 4-0 in this series but its good to see that some of the commentators are still optimistic !
Maybe we will come out victorious in the one-day series & this test series will be forgotten.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Only a riot can save India from losing the current test match

Jokes apart, England may go on to break the world record of 952 runs held by Srilanka, and still have enough time to bowl India out!!!!

Yes, the way they are going it's almost a 100 run partnership per wicket !
So from 651/6 now, they definitely have a chance to go past 952

Re: The Cricket Thread

Sehwag scored a golden duck in both innings. only the second person to do that.

Truly, India is in heap of trouble. Why can't sehwag analyze the situation and play accordingly. Why can't he leave such deliveries alone.
