Too many favourites to limit to 5, but here are some of them:

1. Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
2. The Day After Tomorrow - Allan Folsom
3. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (childhood favourite) - Jules Verne
4. The Shining - Stephen King
5. Papillon - Henry Charriere

Currently reading "Cradle" by Arthur C. Clarke

Hi,

These are few of my favorites:

Enid Blyton's books are the BEST, period. Especially the so called "Tea", those kids had always contained loads of Ginger Ale and Cookies and Choclate cakes.

1. The Catcher In The Rye - J D Salinger
2. The Class - Eric Segal ( I feel this one is better than his famous 'Love Story')
3. Strong Medicine - Arthur Hailey (all his other works are almost as good)
4. Fountain Head - Ayn Rand
5. The Odessa File - Frederick Forsythe

these are my favourites too...particularly strong medicine, one of the best book i have ever read... another favourite from hailey was hotel.

2. Da vinci code - for the details put in by the author
3. Maneaters of Kumaon - for Jim Corbett
4. Not a penny more, Not a penny less - jeffrey archer - awesome story
5. Losing my virginity - autobiography of Richard Branson - for the craziness that dwells in him..

Just finished reading BARBARIANS AT THE GATE by Burrough and Helyar. Its a real story about the events that culminated at the $25 billion leveraged buyout (LBO) of RJR NABISCO in the year 1988.

Its about money,ego, greed of corporate america. Suspense is held till the very end and its a page turner..... Though its a real story, it has got all the suspense of a first rate thriller.

5."No Comebacks" & "The Veteran" by Fredrick Forsyth.It is a colection of short stories and is amazing.

Am currently reading the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
a must read for those who like scifi mixed with comedy.

DA was an excellent writer - However I only found the first 3 books of the HHGTTG series to be good - the last 2 were rather maudlin and serious and ended on a sad note . In fact DA himself said that it wasn't the way he wanted the series to end...but as he's probably having a jinnan tonyx or pan galactic gargle blaster at Milliways, we won't have any more books :(

A must read for all DA fans is 'A Salmon of Doubt'

btw - anyone who is a Maclean fan, raise your hands !
