The government must also start paying inconvenience fee to the users if they find any tyre debris, stagnant water, potholes, improper lighting etc if users present them with a proof. Users are paying a premium toll fee for a premium service and they must not be short changed.

We can only dream of this as we are still living in a developing country and our laws are still very flexible.

Another video on Mumbai - Pune expressway. Also includes small detail about the Missing Link Project.

Sunday early morning drives to Lonavala / Khopoli and back are best thing right now in this beautiful monsoon weather. Me, My Car & my Music.

Re: Review of the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai-Pune)

Good news to all users of the Mumbai Pune Expressway who cross the Vashi Toll Naka. Fastag has been enabled at the right most lanes going to and coming back from Pune. There is another lane Fastag enabled in the middle, which I am guessing is for trucks.

I had to do a trip to & from Matunga from Kharghar this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find Fastag signage at the toll gate. And the message regarding money being deducted from my tag was received within seconds of crossing the toll.

I sincerely hope this is also happening / implemented at Airoli, Mulund & Dahisar Toll nakas.

Re: Review of the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai-Pune)

Traffic violations rise in September 2020 on Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

Quote:
There has been a substantial surge in traffic violations on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway after the e-pass travel restriction was suspended by the state government since September 1.

The highway police took action against 15,187 violators and Rs 4,61,900 was collected in fines in September, while in August, action was taken against 9,619 violators and Rs 1,12,300 was collected in fines. In July, when most activities were shut due to lockdown, 9,265 people were penalised and Rs 1,57,300 was collected in fines.

The fine collected in September is equivalent of February when Covid pandemic was yet to affect India. In February, 15,781 violators were fined to the tune of Rs8,84,500.

Given speeding itself is ₹1000/violation, there has to be some error in the calculation.

Re: Review of the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai-Pune)

3,000 on Mumbai-Pune expressway pay double toll for use of special FASTag lanes.

Quote:
Around 3,000 motorists have been charged double toll (Rs 7 lakh) on Mumbai-Pune expressway since November 1 for entering dedicated FASTag lanes either without the FASTag stickers or without any balance in their fastag accounts.

The Expressway has four dedicated FASTag lanes (2 on each side) where only those motorists with proper money-loaded tags are allowed. Those who do not have tags or may have less cash in their tags can take other lanes.

"MSRDC has directed IRB MP Expressway Pvt Ltd to charge non-FASTag users with Double User Fee for entering the dedicated FASTag lanes of Expressway. The implementation has started from November 1 at Khalapur and Talegaon toll plazas on the Expressway. Any such breaching into FASTag lane without valid FASTag on your vehicle will now cost you double user fee as per government notification, said an IRB spokesperson. The FASTags are also available for sale at the plazas, he added.
“Frequent travellers have observed and drawn attention of the authorities towards the fact that many non-FASTag users enter the FASTag lanes and create issues on toll payment; thus, making it inconvenient for FASTag users. These people are either locals who do not wish to pay toll or authorities who are not eligible for any exemption from paying toll,” the spokesperson said.

Re: Review of the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai-Pune)

Mumbai Pune Expressway Gets India’s First AI Enabled Cameras – Captures Photo When Hands Not On Steering Wheel.

Quote:
Images were also revealed by SaveLIFE Foundation, one of which is from a Police/VIP vehicle being driven at 91 km/h wherein it is clearly evident that both hands are off the steering wheel. These images were captured by the system installed in partnership with Maharashtra Police, MSRDC and Ador India.
Quote:
SaveLIFE Foundation has also undertaken the Zero Fatality Corridor initiative across the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This works as a tool that detects speed of oncoming vehicles and flashes it back to the driver so that appropriate action can be initiated. The video below by SaveLIFE, shows how the system works. “The VASS detects speeds of oncoming vehicles and flashes it back to the driver so that behaviour correction can take place. This is a potent tool in our arsenal for controlling speeding and will be replicated on other roads where the ZFC project is operational.”

No hands on the wheel at 91 km/hr! What an utter moron. By the way, what is the strange wired antenna on top?

That looks like a rotating beacon light. Might be an official/government vehicle.

According to the report its a Police / VIP vehicle. When law-makers themselves break the rules, what's the point spending so much on such hi-tech technology.

Yes, at Airoli and Mulund too, I used Fastag in October while going to Gujarat.

Regarding Vashi: It is good to have Fastag. But anyway, the people at the booth are so fast, the Fastag will hardly make difference. This is one booth I always admire. They see the note in your hand from a distance and keep the change ready. Also the sets of change to be returned against payment of Rs. 50, 100, 200, 500 are always ready with them. Very efficient operation.
