As far as I have understood this, its T (temporary) then-
xx - month
xx - year
xx - state
and then a serial number
So one could read it as,

TMMYYSSnnnnX

Saw a black santro today with red number plates. Thought it was some government vehicle but when i got closer i saw that it was just regular numbering (GJ registration) but with an "army" logo in the middle.

How the hell is a diesel Safari wearing a green number-plate? I hope the authorities come down hard on this owner, as a green plate has major bragging rights in India. It MUST be strictly restricted to EVs only.

This Fortuner also had different sets of alloy wheels with low profile tyres.

PAX0057 looks like a old series Punjab number. Alloys and low profile tyres would also corroborate that.

Curious, how does the hoarding in the background - which is in Kannada - make it more likely this registration is from Pondicherry and not Punjab?

People do sell cars /go on trips outside their state.
Anyway it can be checked on m-Parivahan rather than doing detective works
