Could it be imported?

The number says PAX 0057
This Fortuner also had different sets of alloy wheels with low profile tyres.

My bad.

Checked mParivahan app, it's indeed Punjab registration; though blacklisted in July 2021.

This looks photoshopped, a closer look at the number plate and one can see the overlapping green spilling beyond the number plate edges. Whosoever did this ran out of patience while doing as he/she didnt bother to uncover the IND sticker on the extreme left.

Re: Take a look at this number plate!

Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but how do you get old numbers like this on a new car? Spotted this on a trip to Delhi this week. The number checks out valid on vahan also.

Check for your state. Punjab and Haryana are done with these numbers. Reference. In Punjab, there were irregularities in the whole process. So even those who had bought these numbers in Lakhs were told to switch to new numbers. Reference

Usually these numbers are transferred from older vehicles. There are conditions which need to be fulfilled in order to retain same number.

PUT must be the old punjab number series. I remember our Vijay Super scoooter from late 70's had a number starting with PUT.

Probably one of those RTOs or States which used to allow retaining an older licence plate and using the same in a new car, prior to the parivahan era.

Looks like
- He bought the bolero in Assam and has Assam Number.
- Then he paid road tax in Nagaland and took that number with RTO process.
- He didn't realize that, once the nagaland number was issued, the Assam number would have been cancelled, and retained the Assam number plate.

Considering the vehicle, and the way our government operates, he wanted to be on safe side and hence such situation.
