Noticed this in Chennai too, today.

Normally friday traffic is lesser than other days, but today it seemed even lesser. I think the fuel availability issue is definitely the reason for this.

All HP/BP/IOC bunks that i saw on the way to office ( Guindy/Madhya Kailash/OMR ) were closed.

Chennai airport stocks will last only till today. If the issue is not resolved today, I think we can expect to see some aircraft also queing up for fuel at the few Shell bunks that are open .

I have half a tank should last me about 3 days.
If I can refuse all who have been asking for some to even get home.

It feels rude to refuse but then,..!???

Any idea when this would end !!! Some say resolution in a day. Hopefully.

It seems the strike is being called off by BPCL. Here is the news from rediff rediff.com: Oil strike: When India ran out of fuel
and from cnn-ibn
Strike at one oil firm ends, others to follow suit

One not entirely OT query for Safari owners (2.2 VTT diesel):
My Jijaji from Chandigarh has to go back tomorrow (he is with us in Delhi now) but does he have reason to worry that he will run out of fuel. Distance is 270 kms (say +10-15% margin or 320 km) and tank needle is showing half empty.

Filling up today is not an option as he has gone twice and come back empty handed.

South Mumbai petrol pumps Breach candy - Worli had a long and i mean long ( easily more than 100 cars ) at each pump waiting in line for fuel. OMe pumps closed due to lack of stock and some were still dispensing till stocks last. This was in morning on my way to work and news from colleagues at work at noon.

Personally im not pushing the panic button till monday. The Estillo beast shows a zen situation = tank is 1/3rd and its enough to ferry me to and fro ,today and tomorrow to work plus evening short trips. Highway trip postponed from this weekend surely.

Have fuel will travel.

On monday i expect the situation to be back to normal, may be cheaper fuel. If fuel gets cheapers under Rs:50 a litre i expect it to be nearer to 55 -) then i owe a couple of good people here a chocolate per person ( 3 people if i remember ). If the situation doesnt improve then on monday then its a long walk to the short pier at work.

Anywhere in this side of town anyone has an idea of diesel being available? have a trip to mahabaleshwar on sunday and desperately need a full tank.Even if some pump on the highway is open i dont mind.

Supply Problems in Bangalore ?

Noticed some bunks not having stock - Cauvery, Forum, etc. One attendent said that the oil-co's are asking for the tanker be in the name of the person who owns the bunk. So if a bunk owner sends a contracted tanker, the oil-co is not filling up that tanker.

Isn't that kind of dumb? Why should the bunk owner have tankers in his name if he can rent them???

Strange are the ways...

yes - not convinced with the bunk attendent's explanation.

This was primarily for diesel, at the 3 bunks I noticed this.

Don't think there is any such condition in the refineries.
