My top speeds

New Honda City 1.5 Gxi - 155 Kmph (Tambaram - Dindivanam Highway)

Honda City 1.5 Exi (2000) - 150 Kmph (Chennai-Pondicherry ECR)

Honda Civic 1.8S - 140 Kmph (Chennai-Pondicherry ECR) - had to stop at a restaurant.

Santro Zip Plus - 137 Kmph (Chennai-Pondicherry ECR) - it wouldn't just go faster . Actually the speedo showed somewhere between 135 and 140. So I assumed it to be around the 137 Kmph.

Very much possible. If one shifts to the fifth gear in Swift in a highway at around 120 kmph and floor the accelerator down, the revs take a few years to climb up...you'll get creamed by most peppy mid-sizers (including the Accent CRDi which just pulls away at that speed in the fifth gear). The speedo refuses to cross 160kmph in fifth

The best way - shift in third at 120, engage fourth and floor the accelerator, the engine revs like a mixie and carries you to 160kmph reasonably quickly ...starts becoming a tad hoarse after 5600 RPM...I couldn't touch six though I tried hard. Maybe there's a rev limiter at 5500 rpm (not sure)

The tall gearing is responsible for the 4th gear top speed...In the Ikon 1.6, I could touch the top speed only in the 5th gear (190 kmph speedo indication on the Mumbai-Pune expressway and a 'burnt wire' smell)

Oops, my mistake, I meant the double-ton, i.e. 200 mph...

Beemer & Mustang

190kph on my BMW R100RT. 203 in a Mustang....at least I think that is what I did. Everything was vibrating so bad the speedo was hard to read. I should have put my mobile phone down, I guess. Spilled my coffee, too!

135kmph in a Zen Estilo. The car was struggling. My Alto could do 145kmph on the same road. I could have pushed the Estilo a little more but had to back off as the car started fishtailing when there was a crosswind.
